<title>A Mercure Hotel Opens in Bristol</title>
<link>http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2006/12/12/15254/815</link>
<description>&#x3C;![CDATA[&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/mercure_brigstow.jpg&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Bristol&#x27;s &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.mercure.com/mercure/fichehotel/gb/mer/6548/fiche_hotel.shtml&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;b&#x3E;Brigstow Hotel&#x3C;/b&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E; has been taken over by Accor (who own Novotel and Sofitel), who&#x27;ve made it into Britain&#x27;s second Mercure Hotel. It&#x27;s a four-star boutique hotel right on the Avon River and is within walking distance of the main train station (five or fifteen minutes, depending on which website you believe). Typically for Novotel&#x27;s small brother brand, it&#x27;s meant to have its own special atmosphere without being overwhelming in either luxury or price.&#x3C;br&#x3E;&#x3C;br&#x3E; If you&#x27;re hitting Bristol then the new Mercure&#x27;s location is pretty useful. It&#x27;s directly on the river in the Welsh Back area--which is more in the middle of things than the name sounds. Passenger ferries run up and down here as well as touristy</description>
