· LSU-Located: The Cook Hotel
This hotel is on LSU's campus and perfect for alumni and/or obsessive LSU athletic fans. Why? That's because it is home to the Jack and Priscilla Andonie Museum which is all about LSU sports. There's tons of memorabilia hanging about and the pool is named after Shaquille O'Neal. Seriously. Rooms are about $120 a night.
· LSU-Recommended: The Hilton Baton Rouge
Technically, this hotel may not be recommended by LSU but they were offering a game day package on the LSU athletic site. When we went to the hotel's site to find what it was, there was nothing. Still a bunch of folk recommend staying here when you're in town. Rooms are pricier at $180 a night.
· LSU-Wildcard: The Marriott Baton Rouge
We picked this Marriott because we felt it's probably a tad better than the Super 8 but we're not quite sure. Reviews on the place were wild, ranging from "wonderful" to "okay if you like granite mattresses." Here is one person's take on the Marriott which could probably sum up the Baton Rouge hotel scene as a whole:
Being that is rains every day in Baton Rouge, the hotel rooms suffer leaks and mold--peeling wallpaper, etc.
But rooms are cheap at about $109 a night.
· A Hotel To Avoid: The Days Inn Baton Rouge
This review says it all:
In the morning on Saturday we wake up to go to the LSU game well while my girlfriend was getting ready I heard some noise so I looked outside and there was plenty of cops going into the room next to mine with guns drawn.
