We stayed at the Royal Marine for two nights a month ago and were completely blown away. Walking into our hotel room, we both commented about how we didn't feel like we deserved the niceness of the room considering how little we paid for it. The room itself was huge and featured a wall-hung flat screen TV and a massive, comfortable bed. The bathroom was also huge and featured a bathtub and a shower. The view from our room was lackluster but an extra 40 euro will get you views of the near-lying marina and ferry port.

The town of Dun Laoghire is seven kilometers outside of Dublin proper but the DART station is a two-minute walk from the hotel and the train ride into Dublin is very scenic. The town itself has lots of shops and restaurants and was very quaint.

I would go back in a heartbeat and wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Royal marine for the entirety of the trip.
