Really cool place, urban experience

Rating: 10

Just a fun vibe at this downtown seattle hotel, lot's of communal space, friendly Euro's staying there, and really walkable to a lot of different places. Very inexpensive too (cheap!), but if you are looking for someplace fancy - look elsewhere

Don't Touch My Stuff!

Rating: 2

I checked into the Moore Hotel last night for a conference and left my toiletries on the sink. When I came back this evening, the items were gone. After a half hour, the desk clerk got ahold of the housekeeping supervisor and she told him that the items were in my medicine cabinet. Why didn't the maid tell me she had moved my things? I thought she had stolen or discarded them. To me, that's as bad as stealing. AVOID. If you want a cheap hotel in Seattle, try the Everspring Inn on Aurora.

some details about the Moore

Rating: 10

I had trouble finding specific details of what rooms at The Moore included, so I wanted to elaborate. We booked suite 705 for just over $100 per night. The kitchenette included: coffemaker (coffee was provided, but I'd reccomend going out for coffee or buying your own), 2-eye range, sink, mini fridge, table for 2, love seat and coffee table. The bedroom was separated by a doorway (not an actual door). Included were: very comfy queen sized bed, one nightstand, TV (cable too!), small dresser, and a good-sized walk-in closet with several hangers. The room DID NOT have an alarm clock (luckily, my cell phone has one). The attached private bathroom had an old-fashioned claw-foot tub ( with shower curatins all around), pedistal sink, medicine cabinet, hairdryer and toilet. There was little space for storage of toiletries in the bathroom. Floors 3, 6, and 7 have been remodeled and have very nice-looking decor. Floors 2, 4, and 5 look dark and uninviting. rooms ending in 01-05 do not face the water and are advertised as "quiet rooms." believe me, the street behind the Moore has just as many sirens going by at 3 a.m. as the street in front has. Just bring earplugs. Rooms ending in 06-16 are on the south end of the hotel furthest from the Moore Theater (which can be noisy) and face Puget Sound. rooms ending in 17 and above also face the water but are closer to the noise of the theater. Keep in mind there is no AC here and when the weather is nice you'll want your windows open.

value for the money, good location, friendly staff

Rating: 10

I'm from Sydney, Australia, I viisted Seattle twice and in both occasions I stayed at the Moore Hotel, if I come back, and I definitely will again as Seattle is one of my favourite cities in North America, the Moore is where I'd like to stay again, the location is perfect, the staff is very friendly, to me anyway, the rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and in both ocasions I was given rooms with nice views of the water, a bonus, and yes, you can't beat the price.

Definitely no-frills, but you can't do better for the money.

Rating: 10

My boyfriend had stayed at the Moore Hotel 6 years ago on a cross-country trip, so when he suggested that we stay there on our recent trip to Seattle, I let him take care of our vacation plans. We took public transit ( MT194 / $1.25) from SEATAC, which lets you off 3 blocks from the hotel - an easy walk. This place is fantastic for the money if you don't require a lot of "extras." They offer shared and private baths (the private baths go pretty quickly), and we tried out each. Even the shared bath option gives you a sink in your room. The hotel feels much like a hostel at first - it's old and not in the best visual condition, the hallways are a little dark, the elevator only holds a couple of people, and the doors to the rooms require *gasp* actual KEYS! The neighborhood is a little gritty, but we never felt unsafe at any time. It is a highly trafficked area, so you're seldom wandering about by yourself. It's a pretty bare bones setup, but everything was super clean, functional, we had a fantastic view of the water, and the building is constructed like a prison (thick plaster walls), so we never heard a peep from our neighbors. The close proximity to just about everything is amazing - we walked to Pioneer Square (~25 minutes), Safeco Park (~35 minutes), Pike Place Market (less than 5 minutes), and took a quick bus ride over to the Seattle Center. This place is central to everything you'll need to explore Seattle efficiently and thoroughly. If you're into fancypants-type accomodations and need a lot of catering to, this place is not for you. There are no clocks in the room, no pictures on the wall, you may/may not get a mirror in your room, but the place is well worth the money that you'll save, and the service that we received from everyone working there was 5-star. They definitely have a lifelong customer in my guy and myself.

I don't get it.

Rating: 2

We recently stayed at the Moore on recommendations I read here & I'm sorry but I just don't get it. Our primary issue was no heat. There was a radiator in the room but no means of turning it on. We called down to the front desk and were told that the heat is on a timer & we couldn't control it but it was due to come on at 8p. The person at the front desk said that most guests complain because it gets too hot. At 10p-still no heat. Apparently the maintenance guy was handling a family emergency so there wasn't anything they could/would do except offer us the one remaining room. Unfortunately when we checked out that room there was no heat there either & it was an even more depressing room than the one we were already in. But putting aside the lack of heat, which I assume was a temporary problem, there were still absolutely no amenities...no phone book, no clock, no hangers in the closet. Frustratingly the sheets were too small for the bed so we fought that all night & every time I woke up I was on bare mattress. Also, there were events in the theatre both nights we stayed and it was so incredibly loud. One night it was a comedienne and we listened to raucous laughter until 11pm. The next night it was a concert and the walls literally vibrated to the point that the headboard, which was attached to the wall, was banging. It certainly is not what I would consider romantic by any stretch of the imagination. We were on the 4th floor so maybe that was part of the problem. It seems that those reviewers who gave this hotel positive reviews make reference to the higher floors so if you are going to give this a shot, be sure to ask for a higher floor. I will concede that the location is terrific (we could see the Space Needle from our window) & the rate was very low...we paid about $90 a night which is unheard of for that area of the city but in future I would gladly pay more for a nicer room.

Best Hotel for that price ever been to in US

Rating: 10

Whilst reading through some other reviews I really cannot understand what you are talking about. I stayed at the moore for 3 nights and liked everything around. The receptionist were very kind and helpful, especially robert. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The Rudest Front Desk Ever

Rating: 2

Robert, the employee at the front desk, was the rudest person I have ever encountered in any service position. We were in Seattle for the weekend scouting locations for an upcoming televsion series and decided to stay at this funky hotel. The hotel room was great, minus a small problem, but Robert at the front desk was beyond rude. With comments like "I am not here to accomodate you" and "you don't like it, go find another hotel" I am truly embarassed for the owners and managers of The Moore. I will discourage any and everyone I know from staying there and will encourage City Search to drop them from thier listing.

Horrible

Rating: 8

The service here was beyond horrible. When we complained about the TV not working, the front desk employee actually said "I don't want to hear it. Either you leave or I call the cops." Bad, bad, bad.

"TOSSED OUR RESERVATION"

Rating: 8

You were referred by Citysearch as one of the best budget hotels to stay at and I just recently called to confirm my reservation (having had provided my credit card information a month ago for my honeymoon). When I called today, the phone was answered by Robert (he said he is the manager) and our reservation might have been "tossed." He said there are plenty of rooms available and asked for my credit card information. I said I already did a month ago and retorted back at me with such poor customer service. I immediately knew this was not a place that deserved our business. I am highly disappointed with Citysearch's recommendation.

Friendly and fun!

Rating: 10

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Moore Hotel and had a great time. The staff was extreemly friendly and the rooms were very trendy. It is located a few blocks from the Pike Street Market, and a short walk from the water front, so there is plenty to do with in walking distance. While we had some down time it was also fun to sit by the window and watch the crazy stuff poeple did on the streets below. If you are looking for a fun hotel while you explore down town Seattle the Moore Hotel is a really great place to stay!

Great Location!

Rating: 8

If one needs only a place to crash, this location cannot be beat! It is only a few blocks from the Farmer's Market and the Waterfront. Basic needs are met...usually. I had some problem with my water pressure, but other than that, I felt like the place was a great find.

Simple, clean, great price.

Got a double for $80 (including tax). Fantastic price for a Hotel overlooking the water, right in downtown Seattle. Room was very clean, good size, with a comfy bed and a nice view. Highly recommended.

very cool, great value

Rating: 10

the decor is sparse, the location is amazing, the value is over the top - i was a single woman travelling in seattle and i was completely comfortable staying there. i was really pleased not to spend my budget on a place to stay but got to spend on seeing and experiencing Seattle. the only slight drag is the parking because the overnight parking expires at 7am and has to be renewed by 7am - but heck, why sleep late when there is so much to see in a beautiful city. the rooms don't have alarm clocks, but the front desk will make a wake up call at any time you desire

Cheap, Quaint, Fun!!!!!

Rating: 10

This place is awesome!! Location couldn't be any better, I mean this place is right downtown!!! They might not have their own parking lot but there is a public parking lot across the street, only like $5 for ten hours on weekends. The rooms have a nice simple style, and are very clean. The rooms have huge windows that overlook Seattle, and the beds are actually pretty comfortable. The staff is awesome, they know of any and every fun thing to do, they will even tell you what touristy thing is not worth shelling out your money for. I highly recommend the Moore Hotel, I will be back for sure.

great location & bargain

Rating: 10

If you can stand to carry your own bags to your room and like to be in the heart of the city, you'll love this historic building. The rooms have surprising elegance and many have nice views of the sound and Pike Market. Great restaurants/coffe shops within walking distance in all directions. The rooms are always very clean, the personnel are great. I come to Seattle regularly on business and wouldn't stay in another place while in seattle. I highly recommend a stay at the Moore Hotel!

Thanks Bob!

Rating: 10

I wasn't expecting much- I knew it was a budget hotel and warned my friends it was suppose to be a basic hotel. We were all really surprised to find out that the hotel was so close to everything, our room was large and clean, the bar next door was great, and Bob at the front was so nice! He helped us find different clubs and restaurants, and was extremely polite! This place is perfect if you're under thirty, want a place you can totally chill at, and don't want to drive around. The only problem is parking's a real drag- it costs around $22.00. But what else do you expect downtown?

Foot Explorer's Hotel

Rating: 8

This was our first time and we'll be back! The hotel is perfect for anyone wanting to explore downtown and the waterfront by foot. The room was simple, but clean - we just missed air conditioning. And from our 7th floor room we had a view of the water.

Location, location, location

Rating: 10

I have visited Seattle many times, but this was the first time I stayed at the Moore. It was easy to get to the Moore from the airport on the Grey line bus. It is walking distance to Downtown, and the famed Pike Place Market. Also just a short walk to the ferry dock. While the Moore may not have the routine sameness of a major chain, it more than makes up for that in charm, a helpful staff and lots of charisma. Next time you are in Seattle and want to be a part of Seattle's history, and in a great location to see the present, the Moore is your only choice.

Rating: 8

I was planing on visting Seattle but didnt know where to stay. So then i searched on the internet and saw that everywhere downtown seattle was well over 100 dollars per night!! Me being a college student didnt have that much to spend. But then i saw the advertisement for the Moore Hotel, only 39 dollars a night!! Yea it was without the bathroom, but hey im a college kid, its like staying in a big dorm room for a cheap price. I think this place was well worth the money!! Im goin back to this hotel for my next trip!

Charming Historic Hotel

Rating: 10

The Moore Hotel is a charming, historic hotel located in downtown Seattle near Pike Street Market. The rooms are bright and clean with high ceilings and windows that open for fresh rain-washed air. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a great value for the prime location. I always stay there when I attend conventions in Seattle.

a great Rock N Roll hotel!

Rating: 8

The Moore was everything I thought it was going to be. It wasn't luxurious but it's clean, the beds are comfortable, the rooms have cable and the staff is great! It's close to downtown with lots of great neighborhood bars just down the street as well as The Nitelite Lounge connected to it. Not to mention the Moore Theatre is attached as well, I heard the Wallflowers do soundcheck as I was showering one day. If you're looking for the Ritz keep looking but if you're looking for an inexpensive, clean, comfortable palce to stay check in to the Moore.

At first, I wasn't confident. When I saw my room, I laughed and said this is perfect! Don't expect the W Hotel. Save your money for the attractions and nightlife in Seattle, not your room. Stay at the Moore. It's old school charm. The front desk is au naturel and helpful as well.

Sweet deal, even Sweeter Local

Rating: 8

This was the best deal in town, the votes from last year didnt lie, not only was it very affordable but the location was amazing. My daughter and I had a great time shopping at Nordy's and the Gap only blocks from the hotel, and then relaxing at one of the bistros nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff made our stay even better, would love to come here for a romantic getaway.
