The Cheerful Charles
The Charles Hotel is an amazing hotel and it all started with the wonderfully efficient reservation agents. I had booked my reservation online and had a special request of an early check-in, later that afternoon I had received an e-mail from a reservation agent letting me know that they had received my request and that they would try their best to comply. I travel a lot and stay at a fair number of high-end places around the world. I have never before had a hotel send me an email from an actual person. It was a very cool touch and showed me the level of service The Charles Hotel provides. The rest of my stay was just great. The reception desk was charming and enjoyable. The rooms were flawless and my whole stay at The Charles Hotel was very refreshing.

I went to the salad bar ($7.95/lb) and my salad was $30... The containers are Whole Foods salad bar size and that is usually $10 or so for me. Something is off here. -

Awesome hot & cold food bars. Delicious. They constantly are refilling too & it's always clean (I typically find food bars to be icky...NOT this one). Pastries, sandwiches, other grocery items too. -
In addition to the hot food bar up front, there is a small salad bar in the back. Ask the deli guys for help. -
take a bite of a leg of prosciutto. then get mozzarella, basil, pesto, tomato, and prosciutto. YUM. -
Saturday lunch is packed but always has tiki masala and curried chicken salad. When it's 20 degrees in Harvard Square this is the place for global comfort food. Be assertive about seats.... -
Try the Isaa Newton sandwich special: turkey, apples, and cranberry sauce on rye. Awesome. -
Garlic mashed potatoes with carrots and peas are fucking outstanding. The corn and potato slices are the same. A great place to pick up pre-prepared food on the run. A++ for real.
