Would stay here again!
We stayed here for part of our honeymoon. What a great place! The rooms were comfortable and clean. Great location, close to good places to ...
Hmm...
Having just come from a hotel with large rooms, bay views, multiple elevators, ice machines, and all the amenities one could hope for in a hotel room, the Cartwright was a bit of a shock. Parking is $40 a day valet, or you can self-park for $17 at a parking lot a block or so away. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms even smaller. The bedding was clean but at a minimum. The view from our window was a trellis festooned with fake ivy and flowers in an attempt to screen the windows from the offices next door. The A/C was effective but noisy. The hotel is currently undergoing rennovations, and I was woken by the noise of hammering and drilling (this was at like 10am but still...). There is also a lot of noise from the street and the trolleys. All this being said, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms may be small but they are clean. And of course, the location is absolutely prime for tourists - the trolleys are literally a stone's throw away, and lots of attractions like Union Square and Chinatown are within walking distance. Tons of food places to choose from too, from deli sammich joints to upscale bistros. The Cartwright is perfect for people wanting to get out and about, and not spend too much time in their room. I would, however, recommend waiting for the rennovations to be completed. XTREME!! m/
Not bad
Rooms were pretty nice and well decorated. It is a 3 star but costs around $160 a night. The rooms were pretty small and the beds weren't of...
Loved it!
The location was great! Walking distance to everything. the room was very clean and the staff very helpful. I would definatly recommend this hotel.
Union Square Delight
This boutique hotel has location, location, location! It's two blocks off Union Square, half a block from the Cable Cars and next to the Theatre District. The rooms were small but comfortable, staff was friendly, and the price (less than $100 a night!) couldn't be beat! I would definitely stay here again on my next SF getaway.
