    The Alex Hotel: Very Generous

Upon arriving at The Alex in Midtown, we had originally booked a double room with two queen beds at the hotel for around $350 a night.

The lobby was very contemporary, but not too trendy or hip...simple with the occasional color change in the lighting, and contemporary floral features. When checking in we were presented with the fact that
a.) our room wasn't ready and
b.) that our request for two beds was not honored.

About fifteen seconds after the fact, a (I assume) manager walked by and simply told the employee at the front desk to upgrade us to a two bedroom suite for no extra charge.

We were taken to our room, which was very accomodating. It had two bedrooms, two bathrooms (both showers), a fully equipped kitchen, as well as a conjoined dining and living area. We were of course very pleased--not to mention our wonderful view of the Chrystler Building.

As far as amenities go, we had the usual Aveda bath products, Dean and Deluca candies and snacks, as well as other things customary and unique to Manhattan and it's restaurants (such as an Aquavit fermented white cranberry juice).

I will definately remember our stay at The Alex a memorable one due to the fantastic staff and room quality.
