Partner Reviews: THE ELLIS HOTEL
foursquareIDNot a boutique hotel, but a good hotel!
Stayed at the Ellis Hotel over Christmas for one week. The hotel bills itself as a boutique hotel and that it is not, but it was a good hotel with good proximity to the highway and major streets in/out of Atlanta. I stress that it isn't a boutique hotel because it is just a 'formula' and if you want a true boutique experience try one of the B&Bs Atlanta has to offer. Nice robes!
Great memories at the Ellis
My hubby and I live in Atlanta, but anytime we are having a special downtown weekend we book the Ellis. The staff is great and the rooms are really beautiful and modern (and comfy beds!). Valet parking is pricey but you really have few other choices. My big "whine" is about the breakfast at the restaurant. We went down to see what was happening at the breakfast area. It looked slightly more than a usual complimentary continental breakfast, so we went ahead and joined the confusion. There seems to be no price list, no menu card, no one to seat you, and no order to the coming and going of staff and guests at the food stations. We figured it was worth $12.95 or whatever for their crappy breakfast. So imagine our surprise when we got the bill~ I don't recall exact pricing, but my recollection is that those flabby strands of bacon and a scoop of scrambled eggs cost about $40 per person. I've paid just slightly more than that for brunch at The Peabody in Memphis with full carving stations, mimosas and champagne, an omelet station and a full sushi bar with a live jazz band. They have got to be kidding! But that's my only complaint. (Room service is a better value~seriously) The hotel is lovely and I even enjoy the Molton Brown toiletries! One more thing~ any room with two guests should be stocked with two of the big guest robes!
Trendy hotel at good rates
I had heard of the Ellis Hotel before, but never actually visited until recently. One of my co-workers from out of town stayed here and I was so impressed. Everything from the lobby to the guestrooms is beautiful. The staff was very courteous. The lobby bar was a great place to hang out after work as well. We've actually had other out of town staff book rooms here after my co-workers original visit based on our recommendation. I will consider booking a room here when attending events at Ga Dome or Phillips from now on.
Lots of little luxuries but a bit pricy
This hotel is very classy--lots of luxury included a very, very comfortable bed. The room was a bit small and there was no bathtub, just a s...
