    • Yea, get a bike, very fun manatees dolphins and sand dollars, Captiva Cantina has awesome mexican!!! Food that is!
    • Excellent place. You won't be wrong if you stay here.
    • Own a house here, 924 beach time! When leaving sunset beach, turn right and two houses down: "Beach time". Rent this house and sign the guestbook! Pool and fishing in backyard! You will love it.
    • This is a beach resort and a great place to unwind. Forget the schedules and embrace the tropical atmosphere. If you need a perfect resort go to Disney or Boca. This is old Florida beach hospitality.
    • Service is fantastic. Small grocery shop ships store very expensive (Oreos for $6) so bring your own snacks.
    • I'm impressed by their commitment to the environment. Recycling, biodegradable disposable dish ware, water conservation, respect for animal life. I don't see much of that in FL-it's refreshing.
    • It's dark, there are no lights and they don't really seem to mind making you wait for an unreliable trolley to the opposite end of the resort (2 miles). Plan accordingly,
    • If you are boating with your dogs, ask Charles to put you in A Dock. I just lift my Yorkies onto the sidewalk next to the boat and they are steps to the grass.
    • amazing! The harbourside room was perfect... Most of the staff were over the top friendly (a few were grumpy). Food & drinks were great. Definitely get a bike! It's the best way to explore!
    • Come here every year. Perfect place to get away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Slow-paced island life.

Not a luxury experience!

This resort is in a spectacular location, but it's not by any means a luxury experience. Unless you call beds so close to the wall that you have to clamber over your husband to get out is your notion of "luxury".

The staff is friendly, and the ones that have been around for a while are know their jobs but the management completely incompetent. This is most noticeable in the restaurants, but also shows up in little things. You know those books in hotel rooms with the phone numbers, restaurant information, etc? They don't have one! The rooms are barren of any hotel info whatsoever! We asked and got xerox of the "hotel brochure", which was inaccurate.

We ate at resort restaurants 5 times in 5 days (2 dinner, 1 lunch, 1 breakfast). Except for our first meal, something went wrong with every one. Lunch by the pool was the worst, but in someways typifies south seas. It was a glorious setting and the staff was polite, friendly, and clueless. We watched the staff cluster around the counter to the kitchen, all of them looking confused. In spite of repeated requests, no water, no napkins or utensils, and my meal had clearly been sitting for quite a while.  My husband's meal was undercooked and cold. I ate mine (luckily a sandwich), wiped my mouth with my hand (no napkins! no utensils!) and we returned my husband's meal and asked for the check. They brought us the wrong check.

The wrong check or the wrong name on the check happened a lot. They have a resort card but no automation or even a manual imprint machine, so the numbers get entered manually and incorrectly constantly. There is some sort of scheme that ties your card to your table, which as far as I can tell just multiplies the errors since that means they are entering two numbers manually. Every place you could get away without using that card we didn't use it.
