Beautiful venue, terrible management

Rating: 4

We recently had our wedding and reception at the Sorrento Hotel. We felt it would be the perfect venue for a winter wedding - and it was. However, the management at the Sorrento was terrible. From the beginning, they failed to communicate with us, not returning e-mails or phone calls. As our date approached, we had to literally barge our way in to see the space so we could get measurements for our florist because the management did not respond to us. We were not able to do a tasting until mere weeks before the wedding (and the food was not exceptional). We also faced what appeared to be either dishonesty or utter incompetence. There was a surprise fee for the "toast" that we had to fight about, we were double-billed for rooms guests had pre-paid for through the internet, and guests were told they had to pay for parking, even though we had pre-arranged for their valet parking. The management also told us our wedding decorations would be kept in a particular place, and when it was time to decorate, they weren't where the hotel said they'd be! Our family spent 30 frantic minutes trying to find someone from the hotel to help locate the decorations. Additionally, a family member had to go back into the kitchen to insure they saved our anniversary cake layer because the servers appeared uncertain when he asked them what they planned to do with it. Surprise, surprise; the next morning it was not in the refrigerator where he had placed it! It appeared that the hotel would never have remembered it nor found it again. They only looked for it after we put up yet another fight - and it took them at least 15 minutes to find it! The management also did not help us in any way with decorating or even directing the wedding procession. In short, they did absolutely nothing and the management of our wedding was totally deplorable. (We would add, however, that the concierge and front desk service was very good.) We would not recommend the Sorrento Hotel as a wedding venue.

Mary Poppins Would LOVE The Sorrento

Rating: 10

I find myself in a different bed every other night due to the amount of traveling I do for work. I just recently stayed at The Sorrento Hotel for the first time, not really by choice, but because my regular hotel was sold-out. Its funny how things work out, I normally would not have considered staying at The Sorrento Hotel, but now that I have stayed there it is now my home away from home when I?m in Seattle on business. The staff helped me to feel right at home, the complimentary town car would take me any where I needed to go....It was perfect!!!!!!

Great Boutique Hotel

Rating: 10

Wonderful boutique hotel. Upscale accomodations, the beds are pillotop with lots of pillows. French press for your morning coffee and desk includes a printer in your room. Our meeting was held in a grand room with great light from outside. The hotel staff is comendable and very customer oriented. Gym is adequate with machines. The only negative is the distance from the waterfront (not walkable).

Can't say enough . . .

Rating: 10

Very attentive staff. Helpful without being intrusive. Suites are very well appointed and comfortable. For breakfast be sure to go to The Hunt Club and try the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict or Belgian Style Malted Waffle. Both are prepared to perfection. Also, be sure to visit the romantic Fireside Room with their wonderful pianist Cara Hill. Can't say enough about our stay at The Sorrento. Definitely will return.

Slow Down in Seattle . . Sorrento style

Rating: 10

The Sorrento Hotel is the best kept secret for Hotels in Seattle. It is rich in it's attention to detail. There is not a season that is better represented than the winter time. The dark rich woods of the lobby and Hunt club gives a warmth of days gone by. The check in is superb with the wait staff at your service. God bless the fact that Sorrento has only one elevator! What a symbol of style and patience. I met people just like myself - delibrate and satisfied. The rooms are so comfortable, and they appear larger than they are. Take your time . . . . . . . Enjoy the ambiance . . . . . . .

Amazing & wonderful! A true delight.

We utilized the Sorrento during our wedding, booking blocks of rooms for our guests as well as staying there ourselves on our wedding night. The Sorrento was fabulous. The service and attention to detail is near perfection. We, and the rest of our guests, felt like royalty during our stay. The setting is spectacular, the rooms are lush and beautiful, and the bedding - I've never slept so well! (and the night before my wedding I might add!) All in all, this was a fabulous experience. I will stay there again even though I live in the Seattle area - just for the ambiance.

Elegant

A very nice place to stay. Perhaps we expected a bit to much from the reviews below. Like the staff to remember our names and such, but overall the stay was quite nice. Our room was cozy and plesantly appointed. The staff overall very quiet and non-intrusive. We appreciated the towncar, vallet parking, and the dark, quiet retreat of our snug bed in a bustling city. I would go their again and recomend it to about anybody.

What the?

Rating: 7

My husband and I stayed at the Sorrento for our wedding anniversary. The staff was wonderful, our suite was just nice and the food was scrumptious. But I had the worst night sleep of my life! I don't know if all of their money went into the rest of the hotel and they didn't have anything left for comfortable beds, but the pillows and the mattress were a nightmare, literally. However, we did thoroughly enjoy tea in front of the fireplace. The concierge graciously assisted us by coordinating with the restaurant's limosine service which was a big help. We were also delighted with our breakfast from the Hunt Club Restaurant.

What a wonderful time!

What an amazing hotel, Jazz in the sitting room, a car service to take you around town, huge French style rooms, and a concierge that attends to your every need.

princess treatment

Rating: 10

I have enjoyed the Salish,Bellevue Club Hotel for nights of celebration, this year I choose the Sorrento and will Always spend any special nite there again! The attention by each staff member, from concierge to reservations (Bob Strecker-he makes you feel like royalty) to the fantastic, luxurious suites (Carnegie). It was a night I will never forget-unmatched quality in room and staff. Everyone at the hotel knew I had a birthday, they all asked about it, even the next day when I checked out, the person that took my luggage down asked and also asked how I enjoyed the Husky game. If felt like a princess, thanks to the Sorrento!

Rustic and Elegant

Rating: 10

This hotel is of impeccable beauty from an early 1900's era. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in mid October 2001. The hotel was perfect, quaint, beautiful, and had history that the concierge was more than willing to share. The staff was always friendly, and knew how to treat the guests well. The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated as if stepping back in time to a day of he early 1900's where the wealthy would stay when passing through town. The concierge was more than willing to give us a tour of the upstairs ballroom, and penthouse. The hotel even has a 'red lady' ghost who roams the 3rd floor. I would highly recommend the Sorrento for those looking for a gorgeous, quaint hotel, with rich culture. I don't think the Sorrento's beauty can be matched. The food was definatley 4 star!!!

This hotel is simply the best. The service is outstanding and at 93 years young no one can touch her.
