Keep looking
While the owner of this hotel and the St. Louis may be a charming man he obviously is either struggling Post Katrina to bring in customers or just in it for the money. Our rooms' mattresses were crushed(they looked about 20 years old). The sinks seems as though they were picked up from a goodwill. The afternoon/evening shift woman at the desk just talked on the phone the whole time with her friends even if you needed help. I understand this is an old building but, give me a break and update it a little! Breakfast was fine(though it says it is complimentary it is not and you pay at least $5 per day added to your bill when you leave for it). The internet didn't work for the most part and if you could get online most sites are blocked for their staff. I would only stay again b/c we booked it for 50 bucks a night. It is right around the corner from Bourbon so it is a good thing I brought my ear plugs. There are many other gorgeous hotels throughout the Quarter that give much better service. I would pass this one up.
Worst rooms and even worse service
Rooms are dirty, smelly and so tiny that only one person can walk through at a time. Toilet flushed every 5 minutes on its own and you had to stand on the seat to reach the handle to flush which was almost to the ceiling (huh?!) No pillows were available if you asked the front desk and the ones on the bed was barely up off the mattress. The elevator almost ate us. They front desk assistants didn't assist all. When asked for air freshner, was told "Why would we keep air freshner? I can't believe that this place is still in business. Never again! Save yourself the horror!
Nothing Fancy, Parking Failure
This hotel was extremely poorly managed. Beware of anything they tell you-especially in regards to parking. The 'hotel valet' is actually an outside valet service that takes your car to an undisclosed off-site lot. These valets may or (more likely) may not be available at any time, so you'll often be stuck without any way to get your car. The prices are also different than we were quoted over both the phone and on their website. The other parking option you have is (a) the street, or (b) the Hotel Sonesta parking garage across the street, which is $38/day. In that case, you get to lug your luggage up the parking garage ramps and across the street without any carrier. The room was clean and the bed was amazing, but the elevators are ancient and an accident waiting to happen. When we called the manager to cancel our last nights reservation, he refused to fully refund us even though we notified them more than 24 hours in advance. The breakfast is nothing like described. It is muffins and coffee only. The dining room is furniture storage, and the concierge is useless. upon checkout we stood behind a line of 6 other couples who all complained about the exact same issues. BEWARE!
Don't stay at this hotel
The staff was not very pleasant, the air conditioning was not working and it took four phone calls to the front desk before it was fixed, inquiries to the front desk were left unanswered, and the overall quality of the room was not worth the amount of money we paid.
bad service, bad room
My sister and I stayed at this hotel while on a trip to New Orleans. We visit New Orleans fairly often and have NEVER encountered a more rude staff at any hotel. We had to wait over 1 hour to check in even though there were only 5 people ahead of us. Our car was ticketed while waiting for the valet service. We did not receive the room we had booked and guaranteed with our credit card. The front desk staff actually yelled at us when we mentioned our complaints. I would never stay here again!
Worst Hotel I have ever been to
This hotel is unbeleivable! We were kept up all night by screaming guests in the halls. When we tried to call the front desk, we found that the room didn't have a phone. In the morning, we asked the hotel clerk to move us and she told us that the screaming came from an "employees daughters" who "weren't paying guests". As if this wasn't enough, when we went upstairs to shower, we found out that the entire hotel didn't have running water. They refused to refund our money so we paid over $150 for a noisy hotel room without a phone and without water, The clerk told us that they weren't sure when the water would come back on, but as we checked out, they continued to check new guests in. With poor management, horrible customer service, dumpy rooms and faulty plumbing, it's amazing this place is even in business!
