Not as bad as I'd expected

Rating: 6

I chose Hotel 31 because travel to NYC at this time of year is incredibly expensive. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel:...

Would stay here again

Rating: 8

Stayed Dec 7-9 2005. Had no problems with bugs, rodents or cleanliness. I stayed by myself in room 510 and had a view of the Empire State Building. Sharing the bathroom was no big deal. My room had its own sink and BLOW DRYER! Also, no need to bring your own towels, soap, shampoo or hand lotion - they were provided. My only complaints were that the room was too hot during the day and the hallway sometimes smelled of cigarette smoke, of which I'm not sure if the source was hotel staff or all the European guests.

Worth staying at...

Rating: 10

Depending on the purpose of your trip to NYC, hotel 31 is great for those that have been b4 and those who are first-timers. 5 of my friends packed into their largest room which had a twin and full size bed w/ our own bathroom (there is a communal bathroom too) for $105 a night. We went during new years and $105 is a steal of a price considering you're in the quiet and charming Gramercy/Murray Hill area. Amenities are average and so is the service... but hey you're not staying at the hotel to watch tv or socialize w/ the staff. The Empire State building is 4-5 blocks away and the 6 train is 1 block away. I will definitely be coming here. *warning, elevator is small and slow.

Great Place, Great Price

Rating: 9

We have been guests at Hotel 31 on several occasions over the last 5 years and have always been very happy with the hotel. Immaculate rooms, great location and very affordable. I must say that I truly miss Robert he was wonderful and always remembered me when I would call for reservations. The last few times that we stayed their I found that the staff at the front desk were a bit disorganized, and had some communication problems. However I will definitely be back again and again.

Just What We Needed

Rating: 10

If your just looking for a fancy hotel your not going to find it at hotel 31. But if u are looking for someplace to put your luguage and sleep this is the best place. Rooms and shared bathrooms were kept veery clean. It was very close to many of new yorks attractions (30 min walk to time square, could see empire state building from room) Only complaint hotel staff was unorganized lost original reservation then gave us wrong room when we got there other then that high;y recommended.

    • Good rooms, great location near 28th subway líne 6. Wifi works only in some places, like in The hallways NOT in everyroom. Works ok on The reception.
    • Our bathroom door is glass...awkward
    • The tempurpedic beds are to die for! There's noisy construction outside but the rooms are all updated (hallways still smell like smoke though) and the free breakfast and wifi is a definitely plus!
    • Even though it was renovated in 2008, the carpets are original and still slightly smell like smoke. The bathroom wallpaper even moreso.
