This hotel was horrible

This was to be the last summer trip our family would take for the year. It was a trip to Allentown's Dorney Park for my wife's company picnic. I was looking for a decent hotel with a good rate that was close to the park. We had stayed at Quality Inn's in the past and had fairly good experiences with them but this particular Quality Inn was atrocious! Never have I ever experienced so many terrible things combined all in one very, very bad hotel for one night! Here's the long details..

First, finding this place will be a nightmare due to no visible signs from the main highway. If it were not for our NavSys we would still be looking for it. It's buried behind a large car dealer building. Driving up to the hotel at 10:00 at night, we really could not see just how run down the outside structure was until the morning. Check in was prompt but because we checked in so late our requested non-smoking room was no longer available. I insisted that the room should have been reserved as we had done so online two weeks in advance. The Desk clerk said that all the non-smoking rooms had been filled due to our late arrival. You would think that a requested room would be held regardless of how late the check-in was.We were tired from a 3 hour trip so we reluctantly took the smoking room with the clerk saying that they took extra precaution ridding the room of any smoke odors.

Our room was on the 4th floor. The elevator was scary to say the least! It was old and barley functional. My wife and kids were afraid to get on it and elected to take the stairs while I rode it with 4 bags of luggage and a cooler. I prayed it would make it to the 4th floor. I did but it was very slow and made noises like it was going to die.. Well once the door opened on the 4th floor I almost died from the rank smell emitting from the hallway.
The hall was poorly lit, ceiling tiles were missing while others were stained, a main pipe was leaking and they towels stuffed around it to sop up moisture and buckets under it to catch the drips. Unbelievable...

My wife and kids were just coming out of the stairwell and I could see by the look on their faces after they saw the bad condition of the hall that this was going to be a long night. We entered our room and the smell was just as bad as it was in the hall. The room was grungy, very run down and old. Cracks all around the ceiling, old furniture, old sink fixture, old beds... it was the worst I have ever seen in a hotel... ever. The sink stopper was stuck shut so the water could not drain. I had to wedge two pennies in it for drainage. The walls were stained and looked like they had not been painted in over 15-20 years.. The bathroom was the only thing that looked like it was renovated within the past 2-3 years but everything else in the room screamed OLD!

We made the decision to check out of this nightmare of a hotel the next day once we returned from the park which we did. We told the desk manager that this was one of the worst stays we have ever had at a Quality Inn. He wanted to charge us full price for the 2nd night since we did not check out by 11:00 am. We insisted that we would not pay for another night in this dump so we agreed to pay half the night. It was really our fault for not getting out in the morning. He seemed not to be phased by how dissatisfied we were. He even said what did we find wrong with the room..? My wife was livid. They want to make money off of this shamble of a hotel and not care at all about the customers.

We found a beautiful Holiday Inn Express in Hellertown about 10 miles away, booked it. What a difference.

Please, I beg you not to book here. You will be sorry you did. This hotel needs to be shut down and completely renovated from the ground up. It really should be torn down. The one or two reviews that say this place is nice are absolute lies, probably written by the owner, managers or friends of the two...You have been warned...
