Absolutely AMAZING!
I have never received service this fantastic! I will DEFINITELY be coming back over and over again. This was truly the most comfortable stay I've ever had. The beds were amazing, the lobby was very classy and chic, the staff was impecable! Everyone there was very pleasant, went out of their way to serve you and always acknowledged you even if the place was busy. I loved every second of my stay here. And you can actually find a really good deal, and though I didn't go to the nightly wine tasting in the lobby it was definitely nice that they offered it. Very convenient location. But I really can't emphasize enough, how fantastic the service was here!
Stay at Hotel Monaco or Hotel Lucia Instead
Do not stay here. I have had two bad experiences. First, we stayed here for my husband's birthday. After requesting a quiet room near the top floor (they were not full and I am a Kimpton Member, so I thought they might care) we got a room on the second floor over construction that woke us up at 3:30 in the morning. I am not a sensitive sleeper, but I could not get back to sleep. Side note, the hotel does not have ear plugs, I called down and asked! This ruined an otherwise lovely night. Plus, the bathroom was dingy and far from spotlessly clean. I will say that the manager sent me a gift certificate for a free stay. However, we quickly learned that this certificate was almost never good - I tried to use it three times (on nights when they confirmed they had many rooms available) and was only able to use it on my fourth try. That time, they gave us a small room, once again dingy and this time, very small. This place is overpriced, and needs an update.
Disappointed
We booked a room based on the great reviews we read here. However I was extremely disappointed with my stay. We had a garden spa room, which I will admit the jacuzzi and balcony was amazing. The room however was run down, worn paint in the bathroom, chipped tiles, it also smelled like smoke when we entered. I also booked the room based on the '24 hour room service' promise. Upon arrival I found this was not the case. I was told the staff could "go to Pita Pit if I really wanted something, but this was not the norm. I found that to be blatant false advertising. I will not be back.
Fun in the heart of downtown Portland
My hubby and I spent a night there this year for our anniversary getaway even though we live only 10 minutes away. Very cute boutique hotel ...
We had a bad night but the Hotel gave us refund.
We had a bad night but the Hotel graciously gave us a refund. Our thanks to the General Manager. Thank You!
Best Hotel In Portland, Oregon
The Hotel Vintage Plaza is the best hotel in downtown, Portland. I stayed there last weekend and the service was exceptional. It was my first time staying there and when I got into my room there was a bottle of wine and chocolates. I stayed in a starlight room; the view of downtown, Portland was gorgeous. Before I went to dinner at Pazzo's I drank some of The Vintage Plaza labeled wine in the lobby during daily wine reception, which was exceptional. Dinner was phenomenal, I had the salmon ravioli, which is a must have. Before going to sleep I gazed out my window and saw the beautiful stars of downtown, Portland. On my second day I wanted to explore the wine country, the concierge gave me wonderful recommendations on where to go. When I got back to the hotel there was a glass of wine waiting for me at the front desk. I went up into my room and stared into the city lights, falling asleep. Checking out was the saddest part, not being able to stay another night, put tears in my eyes. I already know that when I need to get away from the fast pace of my life I will be staying at The Vintage Plaza, my home away from home.
Finest stay ever
I've experienced many hotels and the staff here is one of the best. I read the review from the guest who had a problem with smoke and linens, and I have to believe that was as abnomoly. The restarant is one of the best - the beet salad and the salmon ravoli are spectacular, and the breads are all baked in their restarant. I've stayed in the room with the outdoor hot tubs and the townhouse suites. The employee remember my name; my favorite wine and my favorite room. Hard to beat that anywhere. I've stay also at the 5th Avenue Suites - a more typical hotel, also very nice, but I rate the Vintage Plaza as exceptional.
BAD EXPERIENCE....
Ive stayed at Kimpton Hotel properties many times in the past and have never had a bad experience until my recent stay at the Vintage Plaza....Our NON-Smoking room - smelled like smoke...moved into a "better" room and was sent to a room that happen to have dirty bed linens (i wont even go into detail about what it was) while we left for the evening - we asked if they could change the bed linens....we were arrived back to the room - we were greeted with a bottle of wine, chocolate...and the same DIRTY BED LINENS..Not wanting to deal with it again - we stripped the bed of the dirty linen ourself and went to sleep. The next morning, we orded room service at 10:30am as we were getting ready for check out...at 11:30 - still no breakfast and 30 min away from check out we called and they had "lost" our order. This was just one night at the Vintage Plaza...i cant imagine staying any longer! Kimpton Hotels are usually a very high rated hotel, however, this specifc hotel I wouldnt recommed - try the 5th Ave Suites instead!
Fabulous place for a wedding!
We had our wedding, both ceremony and reception, at the Vintage and could not be happier with the experiece. From Kimberly, the Catering Manager who handled all the details of the wedding, to the valets and service staff at the reception the service was top notch. Not only did we, the bride and groom, receive excellent service, but we had many friends and family who attended the wedding (some stayed at the hotel) comment on how impressed they were with the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to go above and beyond to make sure their experience was memorable.
My Favorite Place to stay in Portland
I always have a great time when I stay with the Vintage Plaza. Ther staff is top notch! Get a room with a big tub, they are the best!
Small hotel...BIG service!
Overall, my wife and I were amazed with how nice, friendly and genuine the hotel staff was. The gang at Pazzo's bar is awesome! There are plenty of things to do in the immediate area and it's not a far walk to the light rail stops. We stayed in a "Starlight" room the first two nights, but it rained the entire time, so we just enjoyed the views of downtown. The third night, we stayed in their "spa" room; private hot tub on a wooden balcony. Awesome! The lobby has a nightly wine tasting and the people who gather seem to really enjoy it.
Wonderful Service
I had planned my company Christmas Party this year at the Hotel Vintage Plaza catered by Pazzo and everything was wonderful! The staff was amazing and the food was great. We ended up getting a room and it was perfect! The bed was so comfortable and the Starlight Room was very different from any other room I've stayed in. Overall, my experience was amazing, I would recommend the Hotel Vintage Plaza to anyone that wants to stay at a hotel downtown, or that would like to have a catered party.
A Portlander's favorite hotel in Portland
We have stayed here three or four times, even though we live just across the river. The location is perfect, the bartenders in Pazzo are friendly, the front desk staff is always helpful and down-to-earth. I highly recommend the Hotel Vintage Plaza -- try one of the Graden Suites with the cedar balcony and outdoor hot tub! It's totally worth it. One thing -- if you're shy, bring your bathing suit, because people in the nearby highrises can see right into your balcony! Made for a good laugh on Christmas Night, nekkid in downtown P-town.
Nice
Hotel Vintage Plaza is a nice four-star hotel in Portland. The room rates still are not too expensive and you can get a room for under $200 ...
Great Hotel
It seemed like all of the staff was happy to be there. They were so polite and accommodating. They made us feel at home. We will be back. (maybe we will start celebrating our 1/2 year anniversary!)
One of the best hotels in portland
The hotel Vintage Plaza is a great hotel in the heart of Portland. Both this and its sister property, the Fifth Avenue Suites, are my favor...
Very elegant
I attended a smaller wedding and reception at Hotel Vintage Plaza it was beautiful, so elegant, and the food was great as well. My friends ...
Nice hotel, great location
Most of the staff are friendly and accomodating. We booked a room under a "champagne and rose petals" package and brought our small akita. We were warmly welcomed and the promised amenities were waiting for us, along with new dog dishes and dog treats (biscuits shaped like cats). Room was nicely decorated; king-sized bed with comfortable linens, floor-to-ceiling window treatments, large marble bathroom, and fantastic view keep us coming back. The doormen are consistently helpful and friendly -- the best part of the staff at the Plaza.
Very Memorable
Great Hotel. My wife and I spent Valentines Day at the Vintage Plaza - complete with wine tasting and a dinner at Pazzo. A bit spendy for a one night stay, but well worth it. We stretched our dollar by requesting a late check out and a mid morning breakfast. Next time we'll plan two nights!!
Best Hotel...
I live in Portland, and this is my hotel of choice when I'm looking to stay downtown. I have never been disappointed.
Great Place and Location
I went here for my 2nd Aniversary. I reserved the "Starlight" room. I had a rose 'evening' planned, so their "Vintage Romance Package" in their Starlight rooms are romantic. When I arrived at 10pm to sweep her off her feet, they forgot the rose petals on the bed and champagne, but when I phoned them of the mistake, they more than took care of me. I do really suggest this hotel, you will leave with some good memories, if your looking for something romantic. (Great cafes, Starbucks and other cool things within walking distance)
Try it.
Our stay was OK. Big windows (on the main entrance side), robes, nice lobby. Daily wine tasting is also a perk. Back in 2001 they still used regular, metal keys (they might still use them, I haven't been there since then) and we broke one. Overall not bad.
Almost there...
I stayed in one of the "Starlight" rooms... The room was much smaller than anticipated from the pictures featured, and instead of stars, the view was of the hotel across the street. However, it was clean, nicely decorated and ready an hour before check-in. The hotel is centrally located, with Everything nearby. I just somehow didn't feel the room was really worth the price per night.
Treat Yourself
This was without a doubt, the most pleasant experince I have had staying in a hotel. If I ever visit Portland again, I have no question about where I would stay.
the romance hotel
This is the most romantic hotel in town. The staff is friendly, but it's the little extras that make the difference. The rose petals on the bed and in the jacuzzi tub as well as the thick robes and slippers made my stay at the hotel vintage plaza one of the most comfortable I've ever had at a hotel!! I hate staying at hotels, they usually seem so cold and impersonable, but this was different. The staff is tops and this ihotel is run very well.
MMM...Good Beds!
Great beds, wonderful bathrobes...great amenities. Tons of fun and close to anything and everything you'd want to eat or do!
Where service is everything!
This has been my residence whenver I make it down to Portland (at least 10 times/year). I have tried their sister property (5th Ave suites) and the service isn't at the Hotel Vintage's level. Brian Rugg (manager) makes sure that everything is perfectly taken care of and that you leave with a smile. The huge jetted tubs are incredible, and the wine hour reception is casual and allows you to talk to other guests and feel like you are in a nicer version of your living room. This exudes charm and warmth. Bring your dog...they will pamper him just like you! Top notch!!!!
My Home Away From Home
Checking in to the Hotel Vintage Plaza is like coming home again. I have been staing here for the last 5 years, and everytime I walk in the door, I am greeted by name, and the staff seems genuinely glad to see me. My room is always ready when I arrive , even if it early in the morning, and the staff always has a hand written welcome note in my room, along with a bottle of my favorite wine. Even if I don't have to travel to Portland, I try to make a pitstop there so I can stay at least one night in my favorite hotel in the world!
Divine!
I am a regular at the Hotel Vintage Plaza and I can't ay enough how special they make me feel. The service is incredible - not too pushy, just friendly and relaxed. Rooms are very well appointed and the beds comfy. It's the only place in town I'll ever stay!
The Best
I had the opportunity to spend two nights at the Vintage Plaza. My room was the most beautiful! The room was like an atrium with an outstanding view and the interior was spotless. Fantastic experience at this property. I'll be back.
