The Best Bar in New York City
I love this place. I've tried many things on the menu over the years and everything (from the chicken and goat cheese salad to the tuna tartare to the spring rolls) is absolutely delicious, even at 2 a.m. Beautiful space, great service, open late, and good beer.
HORRIBLE staff
went here as i was told the view was great - which it definitely is - and expected to have a great experience as the bar is located in the ritz carlton. HOWEVER, i was extremely disappointed in the service. the servers were rude and pretentious, especially a lady named camlin (i think that was her name?). i was hoping to check the place out before the outside deck opened for the summer but based on my experience, i will certainly NOT be going back regardless of how nice the view may be. only go to this bar if you want to overpay for weak cocktails and poor service.
Great View
This is a great date spot. The drinks are pricy, but worth it for the view. The service is okay, typical for hotel bars.
Great view, great drinks, great service
Went on Fri eve. Had great time. Awesome views, service and drinks. NOTE: since its in a Ritz hotel outside seating closes at 10pm even tough the bar is open till 2pm.
trendiest place in NYC
This is hands down my favorite place to go in new york city because it is so close to my apartment.
Go for the views
I been to the rise bar both in cold & warm weather days. I actually like going better when the deck is closed, it is not nearly as crowded, the crowd is chill & the view is still beautiful. The service is okay, it is a Hotel bar and would not expect more then average service from a hotel bar. Go for the views?.
View, of course
One of the nicest views in NYC..not too crowded earlier in the night (the upstairs). Inside, can't see it being crowded unless the roof is closed. Great setup, ambiance. Be prepared for bankers/traders. LOTS of bankers/traders and golddiggers =) (I may look like the latter, but I am actually one of the former, heh) but always helps to be surrouned by a well-dressed, good-looking crowd
No, No, No
Assume that all positive reviews here were placed by employees of the bar/hotel. The view? "meh" - Who needs a view of Jersey? I expected something so much better from the Ritz. This is a poorly run bar catered to bridge and tunnel people who don't get out much. RUDE staff, stupid policies, and definitely not catered to the client - only to the convenience of the horrible, snooty staff. I used to work in an upscale hotel bar, and I can guarantee that the restaurant bar at a Howard Johnson's in North Dakota would be more worth the trip, than taking the elevator to this bar.
Gotta Go...From someone who knows!
This bar is absolutley fabolous! Regardless of the season...its still a downtown mainstay for the super-chic afterwork crowd. The drinks are expensive, but there are plenty of fine young men on corporate expense accounts that are more than willing to pick up one or two. The lite fare menu is yummy, and the service is sooo Ritz-Carlton (ie: MY PLEASURE)! So, if you're looking for a cool after-work playground or an impressive Friday night date spot...Rise is IT!
snacks but not food
We got there about 7 on a Friday and it was standing room only both inside and out. We managed to snag a table outside after about 15 minutes. The view was breathtaking, and since you're not facing the city you almost feel like you're out of it. The food, however, was not filling at all. We got the seafood tier and a plate of mini-burgers, and it was nowhere near enough to satisfy four people. The portions of seafood were miniscule. I'm not a big eater, but we felt obliged to order more food, so we got an order of spring rolls, which were good, but then we had to order the dessert tier as well because we all were still hungry. Stop by for a drink, but eat somewhere else.
Spectacular Hotel Bar
With such a wonderful hotel like the Ritz Carlton and an exceptional bar like Rise you may never go outside with the exception of the Terrace at the bar to enjoy one of the best sunsets you will ever see from a bar over looking the statue of liberty. Just Spectacular.
Skyy Rise
I arrived a little after 10pm after the terrace had closed so unfortunately, I missed the view from there. However, it wasn't too crowded for a Friday night and I got a perfect two seater right by the window - facing the water. From the other reviews, the view was a bit overhyped. Yes, it was beautiful and romantic to be able to see something so magnificent, but it just wasn't as amazing as everyone had described it to be. Rise is a small bar/lounge that has a very intimate atmosphere perfect to go for a date or with a small group of friends. Drinks are on the pricier side ($13 martinis) but they are absolutely delicious.
King of the World
From the moment i set foot inside the rise bar I really felt like a king. I was seated promptly ordered my drinks and they came out the quickest I ever seen. The place was jumping with action and had a great vibe through the whole night. And Oh my God the food those tiny little hot dogs, hamburgers, and pastrami sandwiches are insane. Finish your night off with a dessert teir and a apple martini. It was just an amazing expeience. Get in early to get to the terrace space was limited that night but I'll be back for more!!!!
A canker on the 14th floor
And a blight on the Ritz Carlton name. I wish I had paid more attention to the mediocre reviews on City Search, and skipped this place all together. I received the WORST customer service I have EVER received in my life. One of the staff Kamelyn, was the most atrocious woman I have ever met, and has no place in the customer service industry; rude, condescending, and thinks she is somebody in her uniform. Just because you operate under the name of an established and renowned hotel, doesnt mean you deserve the reputation associated with it. And while I could comment on the fact that the staff managed to remove every person of color from the bar that evening, I will say only that they might as well hang a sign reading Ritz Carlton: No Class Allowed.
Best Bar in NYC
We went to the bar on the 14th floor of the Battery Park Ritz Carlton for drinks before dinner at their restaurant, 2 West. The views from Rise are THE BEST IN THE CITY, with the harbor, staue of liberty, and amazing sunset views. The outdoor deck is perfect for an afternoon in the sun and the drinks are wonderful - try the Sky Rise. Food is good, service is great and we would go back every day if we could!
Perfect place to talk!
This was the perfect place to grab a drink after work! Beautiful view, delicious martini, and service was excellent. Probably a little bit on the pricey side, but it's worth the experience especially if you have great company!
The Ritz has done it again!!
One of my favorite bars in the city!! This 14th floor hotspot has the best view in all of Manhattan. While it is a hotel bar Rise still manages to mantain a fun, edgy feel. Spectacular martini list, and a staff of bartenders that will blow you away with service. Get there early with a date to watch the sunset on the roof deck, and end the evening with some chocolate fondue!!!
Wow what a view!!
I have worked in new york city for 25 years. I have been to most of the so called "views" of manhattan. From atop a 55 story midtown buuilding overlooking the city or the view from the south side of central park. No view in manhattan can come close to the veiw that you get from the Rise bar at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park.
It's the view
It's a hotel bar. Although it's the Ritz, the decor says more Marriot. The drinks are below average at $10 a pop, and the food is not all that. Too much veggie and no enough fish. But on a warm summer evening, the cool breeze from the balcony makes the drinks go down a little easier.
spectacular view
I loved everything about this bar. The drinks were delicious (try the passionate martini). And most impressive is the spectacular view of nyc from any seat in the bar. Service was great too. I definitely plan to go back soon!
soon to be a NYC classic
Amazing drinks, service, food and staff. A bar doesn't get better than this. Finally a hotel bar that wants to be a staple and not the trendy flavor of the moment. BRAVO!
Pillars in the Way!
Very limited with the view. It is always crowded and the service is nothing great. You would be better off staying up town. This is way out of the way. There is no close parking. The bartenders are full of themselves.
A Special Find
A wonderful escape from the rush of the big city. This bar is a real find! When we visited, the hotel staff was waiting at the front doors, smiling and welcoming each person individually! Very attentive table service. The bar seats about 50 people comfortably. We loved the view of the statue and the boats. Definitely visit around dusk to enjoy the golden sunset...
The City
Do you want to meet that special someone? Well then this place is not for you! but if you got that special someone or want her to be this is your place. First Fat Albert and Libertini are 2 incredible drinks. Second Make Sure to get a seat by the window. 3rd make sure to get there early, they close at 12 and the terrace closes at 10. Well a few more words about the place.... VIEW VIEW VIEW VIEW VIEW oh yea and THE VIEW IS WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILD.
Expect great service/food in comfort
The bar is not incredibly upbeat as some bars are, but on a weekday night when you're trying to relax, you wont find a better place. Great views, service and food. I like the hotel too.
spectacular
spectacular view of lady liberty. tasty martinies. wonderful enviornment. great staff. great light menu
Ritz? More like Marriot
I felt like we were having drinks at a Marriot in Arkansas. I was misled! The decor is Howard Johnson's at best. There was no mistake that we were drinking in a hotel bar. Drinks were overpriced. Food was decent, but protions samll. Service was medeocre. The view was not enough to keep us for a second round.

If you DON'T want to get your $'s worth, this is the place to hit. horrible service, unjustifiably EXPENSIVE food & drinks, with tiny little portions...not even the view is worth it. Been there, done that, would NEVER go back again.
Great View, Great Crowd, Great Service
This place is spectacular. Unpretentious-friendly service, comfortable crowd and the best harbor, park, Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty views in Manhattan. This will be THE place to see and be seen in lower Manhattan. Establish yourself as a regular now, or you probably won't be able to get past the velvet rope in a year. The drinks are huge and the food very tasty. You can opt to stay in where it's cool or stroll outside on the patio. I give it high marks, even as a jaded New Yorker.
don't bother
unless you enjoy spending $15 on a martini, don't bother checking this spot. not worth it. plus, it's tacky--the floors are carpeted! yeah, the view is amazing, but do you really want to spend the evening with the frosted-hair-tourist that's wearing her sequined dress for a night out in the "big city"? if that's the case, avoid this place like the plague. instead, meet someone that has a roofdeck in BPC, make a shaker of martinis and head upstairs for the same view and a much better party!
