Poor service - nice furnishings & location

Rating: 6

We booked a last-minute romantic weekend on priceline and when we got there, they did not have our reservation, even though we had the hotel confirmation number. Though we did eventually get it sorted out, the man at the front desk was unhelpful. When I asked if there was a computer around so I could check if there was any more info on my profile online that might help, he directed me upstairs, where I had to pay $3 to connect to the internet...OKay, fine. We finally got to our room, which was very nice, with a great view! Except we had only hand towels...no bath towels. When I called, the lady was surprised and seemed to imply that I was wrong (no, they're not hiding in the closet somewhere, we're just missing washcloths and bath towels). We'd brought a bottle of wine and there were no wine glasses, so I called to request 2. They told me there would be a $3 service charge to bring them up (nickel and dime me - ok, whatever), and then when the guy brought them, he demanded that we pay him in cash (!!!). I've never even heard of something like that not being added to the hotel bill! Sounds like a request for a tip, if you ask me...but whatever, it was $3 and we just wanted to have a glass of wine in peace. When I got in the shower, there was a black hair on the wall. 'nuff said. After all the trouble I went to for the towels the first night, the maid then took the 4 clean towels that they had brought me and only left 2, even though I went by their prescription of "leave it on the floor if you want new ones, hang it if you want to keep yours." I'm happy to use the same towel over and over, but only if there's enough ventilation in the bathroom to dry out my towel before I use it again. There wasn't, so I had to call down for more towels again. Positive things: awesome view from our place, the bed was very comfortable. They provided a stocked mini-fridge and also an empty one, so we were easily able to store our leftovers from dinner and the wine we brought. The location is great. All in all, I'm glad we didn't pay full price for our room...and I will probably try to avoid staying here in the future; however, since I am a NYer, the location isn't as big a deal to me as it might be to out-of-towners and I will say that the location is absolutely fantastic (which is what bumps this place up from 2 stars to 3).

Great Place!

Rating: 10

Just got back from our first time at the Millennium Broadway.........amazing! Stayed on the 30th floor. Zen like room with gorgeous, ulta big, marble vanity..........Couldn't be happier with the hotel. Service was friendly and efficient. Our location was perfect. We went everyway by foot, and never stepped into a cab! So much to see & do in NYC and we were glad we chose a hotel that offers the best options to see & do. I would recomment this hotel if you want to be in the "Hub of NYC....Times Square". If you like a quiet night's sleep, however, you will be hearing sirens during the night. That's what city life is all about. Would stay and recommend this hotel in a second.

Broken, tattered and rude.

Rating: 4

I stayed at the Mellenium Broadway for a business meeting involving about 80 people in early December, 2006 and my experiences were not unique. The good: killer views of Times Square, style of the rooms, cool plasma TV. The bad: Broken: Bring you cell phone! My room telephone never worked and engineering never showed up during my 3 day stay despite several calls to housekeeping, the front desk and the manager himself. There was no explanation or interest in the problem. Tattered: torn furniture, stained carpeting, mildewed bathroom. Rude: front desk staff and bellstaff. On the day of check out, there was a large quantity of luggage left unattended in the lobby. I could have walked out with any of it. I needed to safely check my baggage and computer . When I finally found a bellman, and waited for him to finish is personal business with a buddy, he told me that there was only one way to assure the safety of my beloninings and stuck out his hand. Try to find a restroom in the public areas. You can do much better in New York.

Comfortable Bed and Large Room

Rating: 10

We were on the 51st floor of the older section (not premier) of the hotel. We had a fantastic view that included the Chrysler building. I feel the hotel is a fair rate for such a great location, very comfortable king bed and very large room. The elevators are super fast and the service is very friendly. I highly recommend John's Pizza a few blocks away - the best pizza in NYC. And, definitely go to Bryant Park which is very close, get a picnic at PAX and enjoy the scene.

Vey nice hotel, good price and great service.

Rating: 8

I stayed at the Millennium Broadway's Premier Tower and I have to say it was very nice. Clean, and spacious, the room was very nice with a king bed, and a couch. The bathroom was very spacious and nice as well. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the shower was extremely small, strictly for one person, and the bath tub needed some serious cleaning. I think that if the hotel was to upgrade its shower/tub and replaced those old tvs with some flat-screen ones, it would be one of the best. The location is AMAZING! Complimentary drinks and breakfast was a big plus that we enjoyed! Overall, I would say it is a good/descent hotel in an amazing location!

Top hotel right on Times square

Rating: 10

From check-in to check-out, nothing bad to say about this hotel. Friendly service, clean, recently re-decorated room, super bathroom, this hotel is fabulous, and i would not hesitate to recommend it to others (we did not use the restaurant however). Great view from our 45th floor room. Just one gripe, our flat screen TV seemed to come "unplugged" after the first day (and it was impossible to plug it back in without major furniture re-arrangement), but we were not in NYC to watch TV!

Everything's great

Rating: 10

great location, great prices, great service...i have stayed here twice, once in the regular side the other time in a premier room...to be honest, i liked the regular room a little better, had a more comfortable bed and the room was a little larger...either way though you can't beat the great deals they have here, check close to your anticipated arrival date as they tend to drop prices...only downside is there's no pool so if youve got kids they won't be able to swim

Incredible

Rating: 10

Recently I stayed at this hotel with a group of 14 CHP Explorers. Many of whom were teenagers. Everyday the rooms were always cleaned to perfection and the staff was always friendly despite the occasional crowding in the lobby or excessively loud conversation. I would definatley stay here if I ever go back to New York.

Not so good view

Rating: 5

We requested for a room with a view facing the braodway and were impressed when the reception lady told us they had a room just like that. The room was actually across from the office buildings with a view of the broadway if you move your neck hard enough from the corner of your window. Oh well...

Great Location

Rating: 9

THe hotel location is not the only great thing about it, the service, the style of room and decor, and cleanliness or the hotel, and the price is just right. Check in and out was slow. Been there several times and am definately going back.

Surprisingly good value

Rating: 8

I went on priceline to 'bid' on a 4-star hotel in New York. This hotel accepted my bid of $125/night. (Normal prices go from $250-$400) After reading reviews of this hotel, I looked forward to my stay even more. The room was big with a king-size bed and a nice big (full) bathroom. Even though the decor used drab colors and tried to be 'modern', the room was clean and the view was of Times Square. It was definitely a good value, especially after staying in a few other '4-star' hotels with old carpeting, small bathrooms and rooms. I would recommend this hotel for it's location and value - as long as you don't pay more than $150/night for a standard room. It's a good bet.

Not Aging Well

Rating: 3

I have stayed at the Millennium for the past few years and had some very nice stays, but I will not be going back again. On my most recent trip (12/02) the room was dirty, the comforter on the bed had spots on it, the bed was short sheeted and the management staff was less than helpful in taking care of these matters. The hotel was new when I started staying there and it was very nice, but the decor and the furnishings are not aging well and are in need of cleaning and/or replacing. The staff could also use a refresher course in customer service. I would not recommend this hotel if you want a clean or luxurious place to stay. On the plus side, it does have a good location if you can overlook everything else. I was very disappointed.

Coming Back Again!

Rating: 8

We had a long stay last fall, and we are going back again this year for 5 days. We loved it. Very large room, clean, and best of all they welcome pets! Great location for star watching, across the street from ABC and MTV, so my teenagers had fun finding celebrities. Walk to theatres, shopping...

Never again

Rating: 2

Our one night stay was more than enough. How a hotel could have one person handling the check-in line during rush hour in NYC is beyond me. We waited on line, then had to wait several minutes for an elevator. The room was less than attractive and the bathroom was not sufficiently cleaned. There are other hotels in NY for the same money with more attractive rooms and clean bathrooms. Also, is it necessary for the cleaning staff to be talking at the top of their lungs at 8am? The rooms are not sound proof at all to the hallways.

ONE WORD-AWESOME!!!

Rating: 10

I took my son on a surprise trip to New York for his 18th bday. Having never been there I relied on this web site for reviews. After comparing prices/locations, I chose the Millennium. As a"hotel snob" I am always skeptical, but my fears were soon laid to rest the minute we walked in and met Terrence (most helpful guy ever) at the front desk. He had reserved EXACTLY the room I'd wanted and I was thrilled with everything about it. Then there was Jose, our room service attendant. He was so great. Take it from me, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Best of New York in a great location!

Rating: 10

We have stayed at most of the "big" hotels (Marquis, Sheraton Towers, Crown Plaza, etc) in NY at this is by far the best. The rooms are the cleanest, the biggest and the staff is the friendliest. The rates are reasonable and for a real treat book a room at the luxury tower, The Premier. My daughter and I visit the city quite often and would not dream of staying anywhere else. The staff welcome us back every time. In a town like NY where thousands of tourists visit daily, it is nice to know this staff goes out of their way for guests.

Perfect for first visit to NYC

Rating: 9

We had never been to NYC before and go a great rate at the Millennium. It was the perfect location! You are 1/2 block from Times Square, ten blocks north of Madison Square Garden, ten blocks south of terrific shopping. A wonderful place to set up home base and then venture out to explore. Service was good, room was very good and we had a great view of the Chrysler Building. Perfect! It is surprising how many people I know who have stayed here!

Great Location

Rating: 5

Millennium Broadway is in a great location: 1 blk off Bway. To a 1st time visitor this was very good. The rooms were small and reflected old decor. Our daughter had to sleep in a roll-away bed and our 'view' was the side of the next building. I would say the only thing this hotel has going for it is it's location.
