Inexpensive (cheap)with great value; USC games
I stayed there about 100 times in half a dozen different rooms over the course of 5 months for business in Columbia. I needed a cheap but clean and convenient motel in Columbia and this was it. There are restuarants nearby like "Wendys" and further away on Knox Abbott within a mile, is "RED LOBSTER" "ChurchesChicken" "Taco Bell" &several other more expensive range. It gets busy with 'out of towners' for a GAMECOCK game, so make reservations. There is also a FOOD LION grocery store and liquor store about 1mile away. Many rooms with a small refrigerator, clean, with HBO and full cable. There are very few places in the greater Columbia area that are cheaper but Masters Inn beats them for quality, friendly staff, swimming pool, and maid service. USCBryce Stadium is about 2 miles or so away as crow flies. Busy during football season. KMART about 1mile away.
LUMPY FLOORS IN EVERY ROOM...
...I stayed in two different rooms, BOTH had lumps under the carpet all over. $.25 to use the lobby ice machine. Within walking distance of "Lizard's Thicket" and "Sub Station" restaurants and "L'il Cricket". For people with no car this is within walking distance of a bus stop on the local transit bus service. There's a $10. deposit for which you get a TV remote control AND they will open the phone line in your room for you to make unlimited Local calls & toll-free calls. They have every Cable TV station and one channel of HBO. The rooms are attractive, uniformly decorated nationwide and cared for, but you can tell that this building is quite old by the bathrooms. Every morning Free Coffee is provided in the lobby (with sugar, sweetner and powdered creamer) from 7:00am to 10:00am. They also offer weekly rates which are rather expensive.
