If you like smelling like a stinking, old , wet cigar-This is the place for you !!
My visit to the new Motor City Casino was interesting-----first of all, the dirty floors were pretty noticeable, and stains were abundant. Sort of a seedy Fremont Street experience..Our party of four stood in line for the buffet for 30 minutes....despite numerous empty tables noticed as we entered. Our waiter, although prompt, noticed some old food on my daughter-in-law's knife and rather expertly flipped it over. She then politely asked for another, he complied gracefully. The food was pretty good as buffets go- lots of variety- very crowded, although empty food trays were not replaced too promptly. The sushi area was a nice surprise. Lots of down-home food- sweet potatoes, catfish, lots of stuff with ham in it, like salads, the fried rice ( ham??), and there was no Mexican, no Indian, no Italian. Then, we went to the gaming area----YUK !! Slot machines in banks of 2 and 3 ?? Dollar machines next to 25 centers?? The ventilation system is pitiful. Maybe it was broken, The stink of cigarettes and nasty cigars actually made us nauseated. The stale air, with the colognes and perfumes and after-shaves of hundreds of people blended with the old cig and wet cigar odors was just too overwhelming. There was no- and I mean NO AIR moving in the place !! We will NOT go back. It's too yukky. MGM is cleaner and fresher.
scary downstairs, beautiful up
When i first walked in, i was actually scared. the downstairs lobby by the valet is trashy. no bell hop to escort to the hotel check in. elevators dirty and smell of smoke. on the second floor, once i found out where to check in, it was a whole other world. BEAUTIFUL. marble and water features. nice furniture. friendly staff. helpful belhop, explained the room features without prompting. the hotel room was gorgeous. the only problem was the tv didn't work and i had my two children with me. the desk told me she would send someone right up but nobody ever showed...pretty disappointing. why have a large screen plasma tv if it doesn't work? the casino was a let down. smokey, dirty, and i tried to put money in 3 machines and they kept spitting my bill out. so i did not spend a dime. my husband said the card room was alot smaller than many casinos. he was back in the room after only 3 hours, where usually he would stay 6 hours playing poker. also, i was told to walk across the street and go to the corner to pick up a cab to get to the opera house. i didn't like that AT ALL. if you are looking for a hotel to impress you, this is it. if you are in detroit to gamble, you may want to consider the other casinos....
Detroit's Casino & Hotel
If you're from Detroit, you root hard for this city. We have a ways to go but there are great things happening. That's why I prefer MotorCity Casino Hotel. It's owned by people from Detroit that live in Detroit and invest in Detroit. So, on top of it being a cool place (love the new gaming area), it's Detroit's casino and hotel. MGM is owned by some corporation in Las Vegas? California? Not here. Yeah, they employ people from Detroit, but the profits don't stay in Detroit (think they really have an interest in Detroit other than our money). If you haven't been to MotorCity in a while, go back now. You'll be amazed. And you'll be telling MGM's out-of-town owners something just by doing so.

detroit casino is the only thing that still give detroit it motor title it notor city for the people and it is the people casino if detroit's new it they wouldn't go anywhere else. I need to tell you what has happen to me i was on the elevator and it stop for two minutes and scare me so much i can't get on an elevator again please understand i still love the people casino. noone can take or make an casino in detroit motor city already did with notor city
Nice facility with good air exchange to alleviate smokiness
I have enjoyed Blackjack at MotorCity casino several times since the expansion, and I have been impressed with the additions. One of the nicest aspects is that I have gambled there for several hours, and I did not have the stench of smoke on me as I have in other casinos around the country. For the most part, the dealers are friendly and knowledgable, and the pit bosses are attentive to the customers, as well as ensuring proper play by the dealers. Although I would like to see video Blackjack at the casino, like other Detroit casinos have, I think this is the best overall casino. It is particularly nice to not have to get a parking pass validated for free parking.

OMG. Monday seafood buffet is a disaster. So much for Monday being slow. There is an hour and a half wait. Line is not moving. Very disappointed. -
Friday all u can eat king crab & Buffett is the bomb! Nice selection of sushi also -
Fabulous staff! Clean facilities minus the fact people can still smoke inside. -
Join the Wings throughout the season for special viewing parties when the team is on the road. -

Take the time to smell the coffee and motor oil. The second Saturday of each month, MotorCity Casino plays host a event that no car buff should miss. -
The self-serve beverage stations have tea! -
MGM is better. You should leave now and go check that out. -
High Octane (the coffee stand in the food court) has 2 for 1 muffins after 4pm... -
Play wild flurry and fire island those are hot slots! Price is right is fun too!

Hotel rooms are not cheap but out of the three casinos the rooms are most def the most plush, and the service is outstanding. -
High Octane is great in the morning, apple crumble coffee cake is "off tha hook" check it out! I Dig it.
