Wonderful evening

Rating: 8

My husband took me here for my birthday and it was really wonderful. He reserved the "library" off the bar, just for us. the staff put candles all over the place and combined with the beautiful room it was a very special night. The menu was recently changed to be "small plates". So they have wonderful dishes like sea bass, tuna and duck, but the dishes are smaller so you can order 2 different dishes for the same price as 1 entry usually is. the small dish prices were about $10-13 each. the sizes were good and we ordered 4 small plates to share and we were full at the end! highly recommended!

Excellent service and great food.

Rating: 10

Our party of 7 made reservations for an early dinner. We arrived separately but were allowed to be seated without all of us there at the same time and we ordered cocktails. I appreciated not having to wait until the total group arrived to be seated. We ordered a variety of appetizers and each were equally delicious. The dinner selections were all very good and dessert as well. Each of us were served at the same time as servers came from two directions to our table. Our needs were met before we knew to ask. It was a pleasant and delicious experience for our group. We will be going back.

Great Little Place!

Rating: 10

My husband and stayed here last weekend and loved it! When we checked in, we did not have any problem finding parking- we talked to the person at the desk and they said they had been constructing an event cener but that it was completed. We sat in the courtyard under the trees and drank wine- it was lovely and relaxing. The rooms are beautiful as well... very nice beds and bathrooms. It's just a cute little hotel in the middle of downtown Austin that makes you feel like you're in an oasis. Great staff too- super helpful and just downright friendly.

BEST DINING in AUSTIN

Rating: 10

Of the dozens of times I have come back to the Mansion for dinner I have never been disappointed. It just seems to get better each time. The lobster beignets are absolutely divine. The service has always been outstanding. I go and try other restaurants in town but they pale in comparison to the quality of food and service the Mansion has to offer. The dining room is wonderfully cozy and intimate. I have taken my children there on several occasions and they were creative with a "child friendly" dinner. I just can't say enough good things. This is truly a FINE dining experience that cannot be beat.

Divine Dining

Rating: 10

The Mansion at Judge's Hill is a must on any fine diner's list. The beautiful historic mansion invites you into the splendor of the past. We decided to visit the Mansion on Christmas Eve. In our group were family members from all parts of the United States. We wanted a special celebration. We were not disappointed. Our food was exemplary. We sampled to-die-for Lobster Beignets, Salmon, Beef Tenderloin, Prime Ribeye, Shrimp, and an array of deserts. Our food was delicious. My brother, visiting from Chicago, is a worshipper of ribeye steak. He has sampled ribeyes in the finest restaurants in Chicago--and he said that none of them has The Mansion at Judge's Hill beat. The meat was tender and melted in our mouths. We could not resist passing our plates as we shared each sensational dish with each other. The Mansion also offers an extensive wine list. Our waiter, Matt, was knowledgable, efficient, and made us feel comfortable and at home. Indeed, our food was elegant and expertly prepared, the wait staff professional, and the ambiance so glorious many of us commented that we felt that we were dining in a big historic home that was our own. We will not forget our evening at the Mansion--and heartily recommend that you make reservations to have your own unforgettable dinner.

Very Impressive!

Rating: 10

I went there for a wedding a couple weeks ago and all I can say is Wow! The property is so beautuful and the food was spectacular! The crab cakes were the best I've ever tasted and they had some sort of pork dish that was fantastic. Servers were so nice and helpful. I didn't even notice they were there and when I needed something (my daughter wanted some milk), they appeared out of nowhere and were so nice. The bride and groom were being served all night, I wished I had that service at MY wedding.

Wonderful for Romance

Rating: 8

The ambiance was magnificent and the prices were appropriate. The beef medallions were wonderful. We received good wine advice and it complemented the meal very well. The music and lighting set a lovely romantic mood. The service had an excellent pace. Everyone was as accommodating as always. I enjoyed every aspect of the evening.

From the front of the house to the back of the house this place is a mess!!!!!!!!!!

Rating: 2

I went to dinner on a recomendation from a friend who had eaten there on Valentines Day. Well, needless to say something dramatically horrible happened in the kitchen. Either the kitchen has incompetent chefs, or they took the night off. The dessert I had was forgetable, and the lobster beignet was void of flavor and proper execution. My filet entree was overcooked and severely underseasoned. As a long time foodie and traveler I would never recomend this place to anybody. I am actually attending a wedding at the Mansion in August, I think I will pack my own lunch!

Disappointing restaurant

Rating: 2

On a recent Saturday, we took some family members to the Mansion for dinner. The dining room was clumsily decorated; the service was awkward, slow, and unresponsive. The food was awful: the bread basket had one variety ("olive") and it was stale and flavorless; the appetizers (duck confit quesadillas and lobster beignets) showed no signs of including the advertised ingredients; the entrees were poorly executed, lukewarm, and poorly plated; the dessert menu included four items, which were overly candied and flavorless. The only time the waiter was responsive and timely was when he came to collect the check. The main feature that this dreadful establishment has is that it's old, and even that is not done well.

Not worth the money

I have stayed in luxury hotels and this does not qualify as a luxury hotel in my opinion. Rooms had that old house smell. Horrible parking conditions. We checked out after the first night.

You have to check this hotel out....

Excellent new hotel in Austin. If you're looking for a change from the typical hotel, stay here, as there is nothing like it in Austin. The building itself has been completely renovated. I remember driving by it when I went to UT and never thought it could become a hotel. Stay here during your next trip to Austin.

    • The rooms are gorgeous and clean. Nice place to stay for a first trip to Austin!
    • Food is exceptional.
    • $5 glass of Alias Merlot is yum.
    • The peppercorn sauce with the filet... is ridiculous.
