April 7, 2009 / Bellagio Dinner Buffet We have been fans of the Bellagio Buffet since Steve Wynn's day. Unfortunately, since the property was sold off the buffet has been in steady decline. Well, now it has been driven over the cliff. Food Quality: The pizza, which was originally developed by the California Pizza Kitchen, used to be excellent, high quality exotic ingredients and meticulous prep. Now, not only is the pizza stale and the fillings pedestrian, but the cold left overs are tossed on to the occasional fresh pizza. The teriyaki flank steak is now overdone, tough, flavorless and stacked like cord wood at the station. The entrees are not replaced on the steam tables but are replenished like the pizza. Many old favorites like the creamed spinach have disappeared. And, like typical cafeteria fare, there was left over bacon, hash-browns and scrambled eggs from the breakfast buffet. The Alaskan King Crab legs, the only reason to prefer the dinner to the lunch buffet, have been supplemented by Ophilia crab, for the unsuspecting. And, when we were there some of the Crab Legs were still semi frozen and so liberally laced with salt that we could only conclude that the crab was left over and re-frozen. The boiled shrimp was not being replenished, diners were scraping the bottom of the serving bowls for the watery remains. The cold cuts have been removed from the salad bar and the selection of salads have been drastically reduced. They did not even have bacon bits garnish. Previously, the bacon bits were freshly prepared, a small but significant indicator of quality. The desserts are a joke, very little if anything remains. The creme brulle, profiteroles, and eclairs are gone. The sorbet maker was dispensing room temperature peach mix. You get the idea. The traditional Bellagio Buffet is no more. Really, in terms of quality, it is not that much worse than other buffets in the neighborhood, but no longer something special and they have raised their prices. We should not support mediocrity or that is all we will get. Fortunately, Steve Wynn still has a buffet. Smiff

Disappointing at the least

Rating: 4

Decided to try this buffet because it was highly recommended by many. The line was extremely and took forever to get through. Definitely one of the pricey buffets, but with the reputation it had I could have cared less about how much it cost. Unfortunately, the buffet couldn't live up to my expectations. The cold seafood bar was horrible. Nothing seemed fresh. My boyfriend, who has a big appetite, wouldn't go back for seconds. Not worth the price. Never going back again. At least the service was good.

Yuck, yuck. This used to be the very best buffet in Vegas, well not anymore! The fish are all flash frozen -- yuck! No taste! The deserts taste as if it's made of Crisco. Another yuck! What a complete disappointment. Don't bother going here!

Rating: 10

I can't imagine it getting much better than this. $27 seems high for a buffet, but considering you couldn't go to most of the sit down restaurants in these casinos for that much a meal, and with the high quality of the Bellagio Buffet, it's a no brainer to try this out! King AND Snow crab legs already split open for you! Bison sirloin, prime rib, and lobster ravioli. A dedicated station to freshly made sushi! A dedicated station for all kinds of salads! Wood fired pizzas! You name it, this place has it covered. This place is especially great if you're a "foodie" and love to try exotic things that you would normally be afraid to pay for to try. Wow....just wow.

First time at the buffet in Ballagio. It looked good on the Food Channel so we decided to try it. In reality it was overpriced and not very good and the wait staff were surly and unattending, not one wait staff at either the carvery table or the sushi bar smile or offer any helpful hint with the sauces for various dishes, most of the food were luke warm or dried up. Our waiter never brought us empty place for our shells. We ended up piling it on the table just to get it out of our dinner plate. The King crab was easy to eat but it was overly salty, the Beef Wellington was dry and a lot of food trays were empty or not being replenished for a long period of time. We were there at 5:30pm, the height of the dinner hour. We'd expected the food trays to be more plentiful and fresh. There were 2 things that were done well...rack of lamb and creme brulee. For over $70 for 2 people not including tips with only 2 items that wre any good, I think it's a bit overpriced. We will not go back to their buffet again. It's not worth it.

First 3 times I went, it was great... Then the 4th time, they served me a piece of rotted meat, chicken. It had a weird smell to it. I thought it came that way, I ate it, and unfortunately, about 2 minutes later, it came up. Several people got sick from it. They refunded my money for 2, and put my husband and I up for an additional night for free. Sadly they have taken away the greater dishes and meats, and raised thier prices, 5 years ago, the buffet was wonderful, but my impressiona has been tainted. Better off at the Green Valley Ranch buffet, its terrific!

Unacceptable

I thought the price per person here at the Bellagio Buffet is totally overpriced. I really don't think this buffet had a lot of food to choose from. The only food I went back for seconds were mashed potatoes w/ gravy and salad. One would think this buffet was going to be the bomb or something since the line was so long, but I was totally disappointed. Our server was nice even though all he did was bring us our drinks. But please believe me that there really was no food to be all ecstatic about. I would not come back here. It's not worth the price.

Disappointed!

I am not big on buffets - everyone touching the same utensils and breathing on 'my food', but I had heard sooooo much about the Buffet at the Bellagio that I just had to try it. My mother and 2 aunts were visiting from New Jersey and the big thing there is Atlantic City (enough said). They're all carnivores and I'm pescetarian and we all love desserts, so we had all the food choices covered. I don't know what they had exactly - plates piled high with a sampling of everything in sight and they deemed the food - okay. They thought it was comparable to other $9.99 (!!!) buffets they have 'enjoyed' (just passing along what they said). I piled my plate with salmon (give it a 'B') and tons of crab legs (not king) they get a 'C' - way too salty. Don't know how I missed the sushi bar - oh, well. Thumbs up on the caesar dressing and two thumbs up on the desserts - cheesecake puffs and chocolate cake - yummy. I was expecting so much more. So, been there, done that. My only experience at a buffet that exceeded my expectations was at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara - fabulous (it should be for $50+). Next I will try the buffet at The Wynn (please don't disappoint me).

do not eat here. everything was completely inedible. i developed a stomach ache about 20 minutes after eating some of the seafood there. Nothing was fresh. some of the meat served, such as the lamb chops, was still raw. if a place can screw up on potatoes, what else is there left to say? completely over priced for the quality of food. yes, there was a big selection, but i would rather eat 1 good thing than 25 nauseating things.

When in Vegas- its a must!

Rating: 10

If you're visiting Vegas eating at a buffet is a must, esp. this place! yes the line is long, but so is everywhere else, the food is totally worth it tho. Instead of their steak, I always go for their beef cubes, it melts in your mouth! the shrimp is really plump and fresh, I love their polenta so much that I tried making it at home... bad outcome. Their sushi bar is pretty simple, but you can ask them to make you something special . They have a very delish salad station, one side you have the typical salad bar and next to it a station of variety of selection which is served pre-mixed. Their deserts speaks for themselves and getting a cup of coffee is a must! Sometimes service is slow if you are seated in the back or side corners, it depends where you are seated so if you dont like it, ask them to move you center front.

Be Forwarned and read the reviews!

Rating: 2

We went for lunch and the waitress was good, but that was all. The food was les than mediocre. It is the worst arranged buffet I have ever eaten at! Period! I use a cane, but can't when getting my food. I had to wait 15 minutes in the salad line to get to the carving tables. What a waste of time for what I got. The only beef was flank steak like and was so tough it was like eating a car tire and I could not eat it. The turkey was tasteless. I went back for some ribs and salmon, this time cutting in line, and the carver was obnoxious. He told a Vietnamese gentleman, that also cut in next to me, to go the front of the line, and when he did not, the server walked away. We waited and waited for another carver to come back, and several minutes later he did, but making rude remarks. The ribs were not even OK and the smoked salmon was like shoe leather. Again a waste of time for the pain, but no gain! I was expecting wonders when we went to the Bellagio Buffet from all of the hoop-la, but left wondering if we had gone to the right place. Extremely over rated, poor selection, far too costly for what you get and the layout is phenomenally poor. Salad bars are usually on their own island, but not here! It is as if they want you to get your salad and hot food all at the same time, cutting down on how much you can take. Be forewarned! If you have the same experience, you were told! I would never go back even if the price was a normal buffet price. I did eat a worse buffet once, the Imperial palace 20 years ago. Don't waste your money. But then again maybe dinner is better?

Worst experience of my food life

Rating: 2

I have been waiting several years to try the Bellagio?s buffet brunch and was excited to during this trip. I was in Las Vegas with 4 other friends and we had a wonderful time and great meals. The food at the Bellagio was great, but I believe it made us very, very ill. Within hours of eating there (and we had eaten nowhere else that day) three of us had severe symptoms of bad food. We could not even keep water down for over 24 hours. The three of us had shared a desert, the bread pudding, that the other two had not tried. We were so sick that I am quite worried for anyone who might have been elderly and who ate at the Bellagio on that day.

A Lovely Buffet with Delicious, Fresh and Immaginitive Choices

Rating: 10

We went there yesterday for lunch. What struck me was the non-buffet feel to the rooms once you were seated. It felt like a restaurant. They even have a bar where you can sit and have your meal if you wish. Like everything in the Bellagio, there is great attention to detail and an overall feeling of luxury. The food was remarkably fresh. There was an excellent selection. I did think the service was a little on the slow side, but very helpful and friendly once it arrived. They had a good international variety of selections but also all of the American favorites and some entrees that were quite unusual (venison, giant artichoke hearts, two kinds of duck, pesto mashed potatoes) and the wonderful desserts that we always look forward to at the Las Vegas buffets (three varieties of mousse, all sorts of cakes, delicious chocolate brownies and cookies). Frankly, all of the buffets are about equally priced, so I think it makes sense to go to the better ones.

Amazing range of choices and freshly-made everything! Not so great service.

Rating: 8

On a recent visit with my boyfriend and another couple to Vegas we thought we'd try the buffet here. It was slightly more money than the regular dinner buffet because it was the Holiday season. However, I think it was around forty per person. We had to wait in line for about 20 minute, which we were told would be an hour wait. This was at about 9:30 on the Friday night btw. Christmas and New Years, 2007. I had never been to a buffet before and some of the others in our group had been to several including the buffet at the Bellagio. We all thought it was delicious! The assortment of different foods and cuisines was really outstanding. We had a picky eater with us and she was able to find plenty of good stuff to eat. For the person commenting that it caters to Asians with all the Asian food, you must be joking! It was one of the smallest cuisines. I guarantee there was as much Italian cuisine choices as Asian. So "whatever" to that guy. Desserts were good as well. The best was the gold chocolate tart thing! D-lish! I don't think for the price that it was expensive at all. You can easily spend that on a so-so meal in NYC (where we dine often) and still not feel full. Our waiter was awful however. He was clueless half the time and rarely came to fill our drinks or take plates away. Both of the people who had been to the Bellagio thought this buffet was far better. I'm glad we went during an "off" time. We came back to another restaurant and passed by the buffet on that following Sunday evening....the wait time was over 2 hours!! It's good, but not that good. Skip the buffet if the wait is more than an hour. There are plenty of other good choices in the hotel, such as the cafe right down the hall from it called Terrace Point Cafe.

Beautiful Hotel - Terrible Buffet

Rating: 2

There is a big difference on what they describe as gourmet on the east coast and in the desert. If you are coming from the east coast and have had the buffet at Harrah's in Atlantic City, DO NOT EXPECT the same thing. First of all I dont consider crab legs and quail as gourmet. And serving 4-6 different types of pizza doesnt really cut it either. They obvious cater to asian clients with a large sushi section. The decor was like I was dining in Circus Circus and not a upscale hotel. For $36 I expected alot more than what I got. The only bright spot was the BBQ Brisket and Prime rib. I have to agree with others when they say that the service was a bit slow. So my advice to others is if you have other options, take them first. If you feel like steak, try Alan Alberts on the strip, its located off the road a little right before MGM Grand.

The Bellagio Buffet is by far one of the best I have been to! The food is always high quality and freshly prepared. There is a wide variety to choose from which includes sushi, pastas, seafood, various meats, plenty of desserts and much more. This buffet is a little higher priced at around$27.99 on week nights but it is definately worth the money. Also it can get busy very fast so I suggest going to an early diner. My family and I went around 5:30 and we walked right in but once we left about an hour later there was a line up. Come very hungry and be prepared to taste new things!

Its worth the little extra you pay over the other buffet options in Vegas. There is a large assortment of foods that would allow any choosey food eater to be happy. I would recommend going a bit early for dinner or a little later for lunch, as the line could be long. I usually go for the lunch around 1.30/2pm.

King Crab on weekends

The crab alone is worth the price tag(about $37). I see all these reviews about prices going up in "recent years". I've been coming to Vegas since 1996 and do remember the 99cent shrimp cocktails, 2 for $1 burgers, and other cheap eats. That was over 10 yrs ago! Since 2001 I haven't seen a single 99 cent shrimp cocktail anywhere! The cheap deals are definitely gone from the strip..they've BEEN gone for years now. Now.. you get what you pay for. You can pay $8 for a buffet at the Orleans that will send you racing for the john...or you can pay a little more to eat here or the Wynn.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Bellagio and ate at the buffet. The service was extremely slow for the paying patrons, but service seemed quite good for the patrons who were invited by the hotel, probably because they spent a lot of money in their casino. The food was bland and plain, compared to Wynn Buffet (highly recommended). The food wasn't very fresh and seemed quite poor for the $30 per person charge. Wynn was the best buffet we have ever had and the price was only $7 higher ($37 per person). Service at Wynn was superior because they treated everybody equally, whereas Bellagio only treats you well if you are rich.

Imaginative, high quality buffet

Rating: 10

The buffet at Bellagio consistently gets high marks if you're a buffet type, and for good reason. Although it's not one of the cheapie buffets in town, the quality, variety and imaginative dishes more than justify the cost. If you want to check it out at without breaking the bank, try going for lunch. One of the little things that make you know this is a quality place is that the shrimp aren't little peel-and-eat Sizzler types. They're large and already peeled and cleaned. Numerous choices for salads, entrees, and desserts. You'll have a hard time deciding what you want to try, but there will be many more than you can possibly even sample. Without exception, everything was very, very good. Well-prepared, attractively presented, and continuously refreshed. Like lots of casino restaurants, you do have to trek through the casino to get to it, but it's worth the trip.

The price includes all the non-alcoholic drinks you can drink (coffee, juice, etc) and, yes, let us not forget the food! I loved the fresh mozzarella appetizers, the sun dried tomatoes, the five types of pizza, the sandwitches, the cart-sized tabled filled with different kinds of breads, the pesto mashed potates, the countless types of sushi, the Italian foods, the Asian dishes, what more can I say? Maybe add the desert buffet to this ecuation- one of the biggest desert stands I have seen!

We ate here around christmas and it was very good. But yesterday (mid july) it was horrible. the food just didn't seem like it was cooked all the way. the dim sum was rock hard. the dessert wasn't that good. the Spice Market Buffet at Aladdin is 10x better. It was perfect there and cheaper.

Bellagio Buffet review

Rating: 4

Memorial Day weekend 5/31 - Gourmet Dinner Buffett at Bellagio. The buffet dinner at both Aladdin and Paris were very good. I cannot say the same thing about the Bellagio. We paid $37.95 each for memorial day's gourmet buffett. When we walked in, the cashier was talking to the other cashier while talking payments for our dinner and handed out our receipt without saying a word our even making eye contact. Food was pretty good but not great. Large selection of Seafood - no lobster, exotic meat (buffalo roast), chilean seabass. Here is one surprise every sushi bar that I have been to have been prepared by Japanese chefs, at the Bellagio the sushi chefs were Mexican folks, the Toro (Tuna) was not properly sliced. I thought may I am too picky about everything because I was comparing a $37.95 dinner at Bellagio vs $23.95 at the Aladdin.

Awesome View

If you can get one of the tables by the window, this is worth the expense. The view of the Bellagio fountains at night is breathtaking. I told the staff it was my mom's 65th birthday and they gave us an oustanding table. The food is average and pricey. Service was chaotic and rushed.

We walked over to the Bellagio buffet not knowing what to expect...and boy, were we ever glad we chose it. Sunday brunch was simply AMAZING. A fabulous selection and everything tasted wonderful. It has to be the best buffet in vegas. Service was wonderful too....be prepared to wait in line, but its worth it!

Best Buffet

The Bellagio Buffet is by far the best buffet in Vegas! The food is top quality! My only complaint is that they have such high quality fish, yet they seem to overcook it at times. However, their steamed fish in the Chinese section is great! Their mashed yams are wonderful as well! Don't foget to save room for dessert since their selection is incredible. The only bad thing about this buffet is the cost (mainly the dinner price on weekends). However, I guess in Vegas you must pay the price to eat good quality food.

My local Chinese restaurant has a buffet, Bellagio has a dining experience. Everything about this place is first class. The selection of food, the method of preparation, the quality of ingredients all speak of a first class restaurant, not a run of the mill buffet. When in Vegas, I always make a lunch or dinner plan to go here. It has to rank as one of the best deals on the Strip.

Best Buffet in Vegas!

Prompt seating & service. Great selection. Wonderful desserts. Need I say more? Recommend going either early or during off-peak times as this is a popular venue.

For goumet dining at budget prices

Rating: 10

When I was on vacation back in April I came to this buffet twice for lunch. The food was excellent. I have been seeing some surprisingly bad reviews about the buffet. I don't think to many people are used to eating really good quality food. I was able to choose from a selection of wonderfully prepared food ranging from Italian-Great Seafood. Where else could you get good all you can eat lobster for one low price along with other selections. The desert area was exquisite with large jucey chocolate dipped strawberries. For those who complained, all I have to say is "YALL DON'T KNOW HOW TO EAT"! LOL

The Best

The food is far and away the best of any buffet I've tried. Have been there 4-5 times in the past 2 years and it's always good. Only negative comments are for what can be a long wait and the dinner price seems a bit high compared to the lunch price.

Bellagio too foo foo shee shee

Rating: 5

My husband and I went to the Bellagio Buffet and my opinion is it was a bit too expensive and the food was a bit too what I call "foo foo shee shee"... maybe good for the rich, but if you are looking for a good home grown buffet with lots of choices this ain't it. I don't do caviar or salad that looks like weeds.

Best of the Best, FIRST CLASS

Rating: 10

If you want first class, visit the Bellagio Buffet! Great food, lots of variety, well-prepared (tops!), superb service, and a must-visit. When I think of Vegas, I think of this Buffet. I hear the Rio is great too, and that's should your second choice, but spend the money -- love yourself, give yourself this particular gift! You won't regret it!

Dont waste your time or money at any other buffet. When I think about all my Vegas trips, win or lose, this buffet aways makes the trip worth while. It food is increidbale and the selection is so much more than the average meat and potatos. Go and eat there. Its worth the wait and the $30

Worth the Crowds

Rating: 9

The Bellagio Buffet is the best in Las Vegas, with truly good food and professional servers. But you'd better be prepared for the fact that everyone in Las Vegas (tourists and locals) KNOWS it's the best buffet and sometimes they all show up at once. Very long lines and a fairly chaotic serving area can sometimes detract from the fine buffet. If you are into buffets, this is the best, but go early or go late and bring your best gourmand appetite to get your money's worth. Wonderful desserts!
