Intercontinental @ O'Hare

Booked a room for 2 nights only to find out that it was their FIRST two nights.  That was confirmed when I got to the room and watched the local news.  They were showing the ribbon cutting ceremony right in front of the hotel that happened earlier. Needless to say, I was a bit leery about my chances for a smooth stay!

It was raining hard when we arrived, but we were met at the door with umbrellas & helpful people. We were quickly taken care of and off to our beautiful room in no time at all.  That was surprising as we were there 2 hours early for check in.  The room was well appointed and everything was in place... another surprise.  I expected to have MOST everything there but, expected a missing iron or hair dryer or something.... Nope!  O.K. there was one problem: the mini-bar wasn't stocked.  That really didn't cause any problems, however.

The only problem was the in house restaurants were not ready.  That wasn't much of a problem as a brand new McCormick and Schmicks Seafood Restaurant was 5 steps away.  They too were fabulous and worked very hard to make our meal perfect.

For the 3 days and 2 nights everyone, I mean everyone, was great.  I gotta tell ya, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.  But I'm certain that it was more of a result of the effort of the staff than anything else.  I recommend this place with 5 stars!
