Great hotel, great staff, avoid 5th floor

I've been to Boise many times. The Hampton is near the top of the heap of Boise hotels when it comes to location and the rooms themselves. The staff is very friendly and helpful. From reservations to check in they were wonderful. It was almost my best best Boise hotel experience. Now for the bad news...It was probabably a fluke, but housekeeping left our door unlocked and propped open on a saturday afternoon. We reported the error immediately but what can you do after the fact? Fortunately, nothing was stolen. Thank God this is Boise and not New York or San Francisco. Also the 5th floor is problematic. The pool is on this level and children run down the hall. You can hear everything going on in the hallway. Furthermore, and again, I hope this was a fluke too...the hotel was overrun with teenagers the weekend we stayed there. There was some kind of teen track meet in town. Soaking wet kids in their bathing suits left water all over the 5th floor carpets and in the elevators. Whatever school(s) were participating didn't bring nearly enough supervisors/chaperones. There were kids (and I mean kids) in their jammies hanging out in the lobby until well after 3am. I think this was the hotel's way of coralling the kids to get them off the floors with rooms. No coaches or parents were in sight. Again, thats the fault of the schools and coaches more than the hotel, but if you are booking a room at this hotel, try to avoid the 5th floor, and you'll likely have a fine time.
