    • Happy hour in the Luana Lounge 5 to 6:30
    • Get a cabana for the day for $45 ($35 for Fairmont President's Club members) - shade from 8-5, and a picnic basket full of goodies!
    • Norio is no longer chef at Norio's, though they still have great sushi. Try Norio's new sushi place nearby at Monstera.
    • Try the chef's tasting menu at norio's!
    • Just do valet parking - at $22/day, it's expensive.. But only $5 more than self-parking.
    • Sit at the Sushi Bar in Norios restaurant. Great chance to speak with the Chef.
    • Try the Banana Fosters Waffles made with Island Apple Bananas & Kauai's Koloa Rum
    • Run along the ocean trails in the morning, stunning!
    • Make sure to visit Norios Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar open Thursday - Monday for dinner.
    • Almost paradise.
    • Follow our Chef's on Twitter. @chef_thorn, @bigislandchef, @pastrybydesign, @chefogasawara
    • Join the Fairmont President's Club for free wireless access! Parking is $17 (self) or $22/day (valet) regardless.
    • Everybody here walks on the left side of the sidewalk FOR NO EXPLICABLE REASON!!! Don't be one of "those people".
    • Buffet breakfast rocks.
    • Snorkel in the lagoon behind the hotel--tons of tropical fish and a few sea turtles out there!
    • Best breakfast buffet ever!
    • Don't be a douche, let the turtles sleep.
    • Please go to work
    • Browns restaurant is divine
    • enjoy The Lobby conference!

Re: Large Group Hotel

Recently visited the Fairmont Orchid with my family.  A large consulting firm had taken over the hotel (signs everwhere).  The management clearly were not concerned about those trying to have a relaxing vacation as events took place outside our balcony almost ever night.  This was a learning experience for me, and I will never book a chain hotel like Fairmont or Starwood when spending my own money. We moved over to the hotel next door (Mauna Lani) for the last 3 nights as we were so upset with the Orchid.  The last 3 nights were the best part of the vacation.  very relaxing and the money was well spent.
