Good deal gone bad
I booked a reservation through travel zoo, so I had a discount and my reservation was supposed to come with a $10 gas card for each night. They were "all out" when I got there, and they never sent me the 2 I was supposed to get. The room wasn't ready when we got there and had to wait an hour to check in. Our room was clean and had a nice relaxing feel to it, but only 1 of the 3 phones in the room worked. The view was ok, location very accessible to downtown, but there was no parking for the van. We had to find street parking which was difficult.
Kind of shabby
The Eastside was recommended by a friend who said it was a good location and good value. While it was a good location and a reasonable price I would prefer to pay more and stay at a nicer hotel. I know that Portland does not have many upscale hotel offerings but I am sure there must be better than this place. It is very old, supposedly renovated, but it still has that old, musty attic smell to it. The parking garage next door is scary at night and it appears that some people are permanent residents of this hotel. Not my idea of luxury.
