RUN DON'T WALK FROM THIS PLACE!!
This was truly the worst hotel experiences I have ever had! This is the recap of an extremely frightening moment after a "long" day at work (this was not a leisure stay, I was there on business). At 1:15am in the morning, I had just gotten into bed and was just falling asleep when I was awoken by a "loud" knock . There was a man at my door telling me I didn't pay my bill; scared to death I called 911. He did not indicate that he was the night manager and this is not an enclosed facility: anyone off the street could enter the area. Police officers arrived, said the night manager wanted me to pay my bill because I wasn't pre-authorized. Couldn't they have waited until morning or left a note on the door? I contacted the hotel the next day and although they offered a weak apology they offered no compensation for the inconvenience. They said they were only protecting themselves. What type customer typically stays at this place if they are so concerned about people bolting without paying their bill?? In addition they have charged me for both nights, even though I left at 2am after the night manager offered no apology for the inconvenience, and I was too uncomfortable to stay. I contacted the Calistoga Chamber of Commerce who were also appalled and suggested I write a complaint. Done!! For $170 per night there are many B&B's that are less expensive and far more appealing!!
Inexpensive Place to Relax
My mother and I went for mother's day, right when we stepped into the office, the woman at the desk was very friendly and greeted us immediately. The whole neighborhood is very quaint and beautiful. We had gotten the "Stress-stopper" package, and were so relaxed by the time we were done, we didn't have time to take a swim in the three heated pools. This was a great experience and I would recommend it to friends.
Was I at a different place?
I'm a little perplexed at all the "10" user ratings. My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and we were really disappointed. The room was no better than Motel 6. When you come to Napa Valley, you want quaint, cute, something with character. The rooms had cinder block walls and no frills. The spa itself was fairly gross. The actual massage I got (guy named Steve, he was very good) was great, but the surroundings felt dirty and something out of Eastern Europe. And it wasn't cheap either. Only $5 less than Burke Williams in LA. I would avoid Dr. Wilkinson's if I were you.
The best!
I've been to Dr. Wilkinson's with my mom three times for the works. The mud is so soothing. It's like being wrapped up in a nice warm blanket. (They do that too, later.) The jacuzzi and steam room and massage are all great, the music is very soothing. The best part is you are escorted from one treatment to the next and there is plenty of attention. If you need ice water or an extra blanket, it's there immediately. I highly recommend this spa!
Marvelous mud
Treat yourself to the Works, consisting of a mud bath, a mineral water Jacuzzi soak, a steam bath with natural steam from a geothermal vent, a blanket wrap, and a 30- or 60-minute massage. I dare you to stay awake through the entire massage -- you'll be too relaxed to bother with consciousness. Afterward, stroll to any of the excellent restaurants on Lincoln Avenue to rehydrate and refuel.
