The Greenest Hotel

Comfortable and convenient
Wow, sorry previous reviewers had negative experiences, but we really enjoyed our recent stay at the Doubletree. Front desk staff is friendly & helpful; love the warm cookies upon check-in. Asked to change to a room away from the elevator, the staff accommodated the change expediently and w/ smiles. Queen rooms are a bit small but comfy (knew someone staying in a double room w/ 2 beds; their room was huge w/ a balcony and "Sweet Dreams" pillows, we were jealous!) . Rooms are nice & clean, beds are comfortable. Room service food was tasty. The little cafe-like counter in the lobby was good for picking up coffee and pastries on the go. The fitness center was fine - predomniantly cardio machines with 1 toning multi-use unit. Proximity to the MAX train was a real convenience, loved that. I could see both business travelers and vacationers enjoying their stays here. Would stay here again.
Good Location.
I stayed here with my family while my husband attended a conference. There is a terminal downstairs to allow guests to check their email. Th...
The Horror!
I have made reservations twice at this hotel to attend a work-sponsored party, and each time I am given a smoking room, DESPITE making reservations for a NON smoking room far in advance!!! Apparently entire floors of "luxury" suites in this hotel are reserved for smoking. Given the service and clientele, I would NOT recommend. Stay away!
Very Disappointing
Every summer, I take my family to a local hotel for swimming and shopping - like a vacation near home. This hotel advertised "the largest non-suite rooms in Portland" and these are not large. I get two rooms and they could not get two connecting. The one for the kids had not enough room left for a foldout bed. We cancelled the rollaway but were charged for it anyway. This hotel advertised a heated outdoor pool but the water was frigid. They also advertised beautiful views but ours was of the roof. Finally, I am opposed to paying extra money to park at the hotel I am paying to stay at. No one likes being nickel and dimed to death. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.
Doubletree, Portland
Overall, our atay there was not a positive experience. It began with a $12 per night parking charge, which we were not informed of ahead of time, and an "I don't care" attitude was shown by the desk clerk.

Great selection of local beers at the lobby bar. Food is good too. Fresh, local and organic. -
If you wait in the lobby long enough, you might see stars. Many celebs stay here when in town. -
This is where lots of members of American Mensa will stay ==> July 4, for AG2011, the Mensa Annual Gathering. Twitter hashtag: #AG2011 -

Nice hotel but not a fan of the Queen room setup. The sink outside of the bathroom is not ideal. -
The MAX rail is also free to the heart of downtown and a few free stops away from the Oregon Convention Center and Rose Quarter. -
Take the MAX rail to get here from PDX. 30 min. $2.35! -
Love the new hip, modern room decor & restaurant/bar remodel! Have stayed here about 10 times over the past few years & this is the best it's looked. -

Thanks Brian, there's a lot of food options around the corner, in the shopping center, and on Broadway. One of the restaurants on site is being renovated now! -

Reliably excellent banquet food and service. -

Definitely stop at the breakfast downstairs in the restaurant over the room service. Very well priced, food was excellent, and very good portions! -
The bellhop said no food within 4 blocks, but there's a quiznos and several cafe's right around the corner. -
