Nice hotel

Rating: 8

It's been about 4 years since our last stay at the Polynesian Hotel and Resort. They supposedly rennovated this hotel. Not bad--however, they took out the gift shop and moved it to another area. The merchandise is not of the same variety--which was a huge disappointment for us. Captain Cooks is better in some ways, but the quality of food was not what we expected. Runny eggs, greasy spoon type of cuisine, etc. which is a stomachache waiting to happen! The service is pretty good at this hotel though. However, their lobby is noisy as well as their restaurants upstairs. The food at their one restaurant (Kona Cafe) upstairs is very good and reasonably priced for a resort hotel. All in all, get ready for a hike if you stay here. Their rooms are located in separate buildings and we were situated in a building very far from the main lobby! And because they want you to be in that "polynesian atmosphere", the decor and lighting is very dark, dark, dark.

Worth every penny

Rating: 10

Besides the fact that you are in Disney and will get the best service everywhere, this hotel has everything youd want. From the moment you walk in the lobby to the grounds and view this is what a real vacation is. While it is pricey it really is worth it. You feel as though you are on a far off island only the magic kingdom is a 3 minute ride away. I've tried other hotels but end up loving the Polynesian the best.

Like being in Polynesia!

Rating: 10

Beautiful Disney resort with tropical plantings and gardens make you feel as if you are in an island in the Pacific! The plantings are beautifully maintained, and the ceremonial house in the center of the resort has more palms, flowers, and large waterfalls. The resort has two pools, one very conventional, while the other has a large slide for the kids and kids at heart. Rooms are large, well-equipped, and comfortable but have admittedly thin walls, so bring along a sound machine or earplugs so you don't get disturbed by your neighbors. The resort has the advantage of being on the main monorail and is located adjacent to Disney's transportation center so it is easy to get to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and other destinations along the monorail system. We were at the Polynesian during Hurricane Charley and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

Location, Location, Location

The service at the Polynesian is beyond words and the location to the parks via the transportation center is within walking distance from the hotel. It didn't take us longer than 5 minutes to get from our room to the TPC. Furthermore, this was my husbands first trip to Disney in 30 years and lets just say after our trip in 2001...I get to go every other year.

we have vacationed in disney eight times over the last eighteen years with our three children. while we have stayed in many of the on site resorts, the polynesian is our favorite. we have stayed here three times. we will be going on a disney cruise next year and on the land portion of the trip we will again stay at the polynesian. we can lay on the beach and see the castle and hear the train. the ambiance is well worth the money and you cannot beat the convenience of the mono-rail.
