Cozy, romantic hotel in heart of theatre district
The rooms are a mixture of new: marble sinkgs, crown molding and old: carpeting and antique furniture. They are pretty small but very cutely decorated and ours had a nice view onto Geary St which we could thankfully shut out with heavy curtains when we wished. The staff was very helpful, after the drycleaning service misplaced my jacket the hotel concierge offered me one to use and gave us frequent updates on the search for it, finally hand delivering it to our room. The staff was also very friendly and helpful in regards to transportation. The continental breakfast buffet is simple but good.
Great service, romantic, and cozy!
This hotel is small and cozy which is why they have great service. Perfect for a romantic weekend. I called at 2am for wine glasses and they were there in 2 minutes. The staff is nice and willing to cater to your needs.

AskMen tip about Redwood Room crowd being 'a little on the older side' is off: Guys may be a bit on the older side, but ladies with the older guys are often plenty young. Still, cool bar. #justsayin -
Great stay so far except the shower doesn't drain well. Ask for a complimentary upgrade during check-in for a higher floor! -

Look out for Vin Diesel. -
Observe Redwood Room's moving wall art. Much more interesting than the patrons (this is a hotel bar drawing fanny pack wearing guests) -
Read a lot about the thin walls. Make the most of them and enjoy an anonymous earful! -

Trendy bar, very busy even on Tuesday -
Breakfast is very poor but redwood bar makes up for it. Cool place @ night. -
High end prostitutes and cocktails. Douchey douchebags and golddiggers. Experience this one properly: dress up and and get a bottle of champagne. -
Convenient location and very helpful staff. -
Shhh... lobby wifi is not free unlesssss... you use the kimpton hotel wifi using the login jim@gmail ... via hackingtravel.com -
nice hotel, great lamb chops. have to be careful at night tho walking about, can be a little naughty outside. -
Try the bacon! -
Don't forget to peek under the big chair in the lobby. Don't be shy, just get down on your hands and knees. -
David the manager is a stud. -
Look under the big chair. -
Check out the 500 mercury wine from room service. Very nummy. -
I want Clift here.... -
Great little hotel near Union Square, had a great stay. So try it if you're visiting. -
good bar scene after hours -
Take a quiet break in the Living Room to read, relax and people watch! -

-
Its 11pm and room service said they don't serve hot food! How do you say "stay at the monaco across the street?" -
Give tips to the staff! -
Hotel pijo, con mucho ruido en el hall, y personal muy junior. No volveré a quedarme allàcuando vuelva a SF. -
Dress up and have a cocktail at the Redwood Room, a legendary spot for the fabulous crowd. -
The clift is great for the younger crowd. Its hip, its happening especially on toward the weekend. Do not book a weekend stay though unless you want your nights to be sleepless with the wedding recept -
Incredibly noisy at night, especially at weekends. -
Stayed 4 nights here: walls were thin, you can hear the service elevator, the view is of a brick wall, doors slamming at all hours, customer service is LOUSY and horrible & beds r stiff! Not worth it! -
You should stay here only if you want to hear base music pumping at 7:30am - well, more like constantly and around the clock... -
600 dollar deposit put as a hold on your bank account?! Never again! Don't stay at this hotel if you plan to have them charge your bank account "as a hold." -
Eh...not so much. -
My coworker was given a key to his room at check-in and upon arrival, there were people, um, en flagrante so I advise using the security chain. -
Very comfy bed... Hotel seems geared more for romantic rendezvous than for business between the mirrored bedrooms, intimacy packets in the honor bar, and the homeless crooners you can hear all night. -
Not the place to stay if you're looking to get a quiet night sleep. -
Breakfasts are not-that-awesome, but it's OK. In this hotel is all about location. -
No free wi-fi in rooms or lobby. No coffee maker in rooms. You've been warned. Redwood room is definitely a cool place to grab a drink. But, be on the lookout for dirty old men -
Kinda happening on Thursday night... -
Great showers and bathroom amenities -

This place feels so sleazy. Can a hotel think it's so hip it doesn't need to offer service or comfort? Apparently so. -
While the hotel is good but not amazingly (contemporary design and pastel colorS) the bar is certainly one the better places to have a drink to impress. Can be very crowded, which is one the appeal.. -
Compliments on the thin walls! What fun to hear ppl going at it on BOTH sides of yr room. And, catch the morning news - without even turning on the tv! Isn't it fun to stay in a trashy nightclub? -
This is hands down one of the worst hotels I have stayed at in the Morgans group. Room walls are paper thin, staff is rude and unhelpful, bar breeds douches. Stay at hotel vitale instead. -
Check out Clift on Facebook! -
They were kind to this grizzled hoteler... stopped in for a seat by the fire. So warm and nice! -

-
grab a bite to eat in their "living room" and watch the lobby action. the menu is the same as in Redwood Room. -

-
Get there early so you can get a seat at the bar. Otherwise you'll be standing up all night because the tables are reserved for bottle service. -
wifi in lobby is not free. bummer! -
watch roaches chill in your room while the front desk does nothing to make it up to you. -
In the Lobby - look under the Big Chair for a surpise!! -
You have to check out the Redwood Room - Plus have a Clift cocktail
