Re: Austin Suites is run by scammers. Avoid!!!

This hotel claims that they are way overbooked because their online vendors like this site and orbitz and travelocity and priceline do not offer accurate reflection of their availability and they have apparently asked repeatedly to change the information online without success.

Except they thrive on this misinformation and when you arrive, they tell you that they cannot honor your reservation that you paid for and for which you already have a confirmation number.

We wanted a queen bed which we had confirmed both online and over the phone directly to the hotel before we got there. however, when we got there they stated that they cannot honor reservations and it is a first come first serve assignment of rooms. We were hurricane Ike evacuees and had no choice. They thrive on people like us who have no other choice.

During our 3 nights stay they did not service our room even once. They offered us a smoking room first even though we asked for a nonsmoking room. The receptionist told me that I can ignore my allergies to the smoke and will be fine in the room. When I refused, she offered me her room in the hotel to bunk with her. When that didnt work she offered me a room with full sized bed something cheaper than what we had paid for. Seeing that she cannot walk all over me, she offered me a queen bed room except she told me that the lock doesnt work and we have to come to the front desk to get the master key to have someone let us in. We have the choice of take it or leave it.

We stayed at the hotel because everything else over the weekend were booked in austin. however, we never saw the receptionist ever again for our entire stay. we had to continuously explain our situation to the front desk and they treated us like criminals instead of customers who are being inconvenienced by them. I would never ever recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
