Partner Reviews: Algonquin

    • Beginning in 1919, this Midtown hotel hosted Algonquin Round Table (or "Vicious Circle") meetings to exchange bon mot. Writers incl. Robert Benchley, Jane Grant, George S. Kaufman, and Dorothy Parker.
    • Excellent choice for a hotel. The old lux of Manhattan. Ask to be introduced to Matilda who hangs out in the lounge lobby! She has stories to tell!
    • Olde tyme Manhattan at it's best! Enjoy!
    • Love this hotel! Gorgeous inside. Awesome service & clean room. Drinks at martini bar are expensive but very good, so treat yourself. Hotel cat is so cute!! :-) we are def coming back to Algonquin!
    • Be prepared for noisy air con in the rooms. It is an old fashioned on or off trip system. When on it is very loud! Better than sweating - but makes sleeping harder.
    • First impression is that this is a very nice hotel.
    • The Algonquin is beautiful!
    • Hanging in an elegant NYC hotel lobby drinking coffee and waiting to see the lobby cat.
    • The lobby is the perfect place for a cocktail or cup of tea on a rainy day like today. Couches are comfortable, service is friendly. If you're lucky you can hang with Matilda, the cat in residence.
    • Say hello to Matilda, the official kitty-in-residence!
    • Favourite hotel of Beatles manager Brian Epstein in the mid 1960s
    • Matilda is adorable! (: And the beds are so comfy. but the rooms are super quaint, meaning it's a squeeze- especially for the price. It's a very attractive place, however.
    • Excellent, excellent lobby. Head here for tea or for some of the best thick fries in the city. Ask for the wifi code at the desk & do a little work...and don't forget to pet Matilda, the lobby cat.
    • If you want an old style hotel the way they used to be with a lobby and excellent service, this is the place to go.
    • Guests at the Algonquin Hotel claim to see ghostly members of The Round Table, a group that included writers such as Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, Franklin Pierce & Harpo Marx.
    • Where are the cats?
    • Head to the Blue Bar. It’s Old New York and super-fun.
    • Sit in the lobby and order a drink as you people watch. It's got to be one of the most fascinating places to see tourists and New Yorkers alike.
    • Take the Algonquin Round Table Walking Tour led by author Kevin Fitzpatrick. Find him @ Kevin@DorothyParker.com

We have been in search of the easy hotel in New York to come back to each time we visit and this is it. Great location. Near to almost everything in mid town and close to Times Square without the busyness and garishness. Rooms are a little small but very comfortable. Great mattresses and very friendly staff. I am a little hesitant to give it glowing reviews since more people may stay there and make it hard to book.
