One Maine Thing
Last week, we got all crazy about covering inns and hotels in Maine.
Well, we have one more.
This one is so out of the way that Budget Travel said they had to stop twice to consult the map in Westport Island.
The Squire Tarbox Inn was original a farmhouse from 1763 that was recently turned into a Bed & Breakfast.
One of the owners is a retired chef who spent much of career in the top NYC kitchens so the meals here are pretty good.
The inn has eleven rooms, each with a private bath, and views of the backyard meadows and pond.
All the rooms are filled with handmade quilts and antiques, very New England-y.
Other parts of the house are described as more formal, "with high ceilings, decorative moldings, and wood-burning fireplaces."
Perfect place to celebrate Independence Day because that's actually about the same time the house was built.
