Update: The hotel this mentioned below is the Hampton Inn in Waco Texas. Hilton Corp. owns the Hampton Inn. Sounds like the hotel was responsive to some of this guest's troubles:

I am having to use my webmail interface as they have outbound e-mail blocked also. They were concerned enough that the management disabled the mac filtering, guess my diamond status helped.

Ok not everyone needs to use an RSS aggregator, nor podcast receiver software while in his or her hotel room.  However, if a geek wants to aggregate feeds, he or she should not be inhibited by his hotels broadband connection.  This particular geek packed up his computer cozy and headed across the street to the Marriott, where he hoped his connection would not get locked up.

What is the takeaway?  For hotels the lesson is simple: Your IT vendors directly reflect on your hotel and your brand.  Choose wisely, and pay attention to the little things as far as Internet access is concerned.

We are not sure which Hilton this took place at, but hopefully we can get that info to you soon.
