There Are Other Places Besides The Jersey Shore?
Apparently there are, though if we judged by the Jersey summer traffic we would beg to differ.
There are reports of "a handful of non-scary hotels" (most of them mid-priced chains) popping up in Ocean City, Maryland and Virginia Beach. The New York Post published this review of the brand new the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
"It features a rooftop pool and bar (views for days) and modern, very comfortable rooms, with the nicest interiors you'll find anywhere in town (muted blues and greens; great, sturdy beds; nice linens; dual showerheads and, best of all, 32-inch flat-screen TVs)."
The only problem was the too-loud lounge host.
"Who always seemed to be bellowing, TMI-style, to patrons too polite to ask her to go away. (Honey, we don't want to hear about your financial problems, trust us.)"
And the spotty cleaning service.
"Housekeeping skipped cleaning our room one day, but, to their credit, always amiable. In fact, everyone was friendly, a rarity in a resort town."
Book the executive level for an extra $75 which gets you access to a private lounge, coffee or cocktails, free finger food and a continental breakfast.
