El Cheapo Spanish Getaway
Here's a shocker, a five-star resort for around 61 euros a night? Actually, it's 61 euros per person in a double room but for a five-star hotel however, this is still a steal.
The Las Arenas Balneario Resort offers up to 55% discounts when you book through their site. If you needed a reason to go to Valencia, (don't be a novice, pronounce it Valen-thee-a, and don't be afraid to even spit a little), Spain, then here's your reason. The Resort is the only five-star that is located right on Valencia's beach.
This hotel has recently undergone some major construction and has just reopened its doors for this summer of 2006. They've upgraded everything including their fitness center and spa.
As for the rooms, just like the extensive property gardens, the lobby, and the views, are beautiful. The rooms are definitely stocked as they have FREE mini-bars, plasma and satellite TVs, hydro-massage cabins and tubs in the bathroom, WiFi, and CD players.
The only word of the wise from other fellow travelers is to demand a seaside room. But this should go without saying, what's the point of being in Valencia without a view of the Mediterranean?

Valencia Glam

Sure, sure, we know, Las Fallas ended last week. However, April is upon us, which means beach season in Valencia Spain can not be far behind.
If you are heading to the land of "la naranja" anytime soon check out the latest edition to the Valcencia hotel scene, Palau De La Mar, located in Old Valencia.
A recent hotel guest added:
The room was beautiful, minimal, lots of white, dark wood floors, plasma screen TV, big comfy bed, white linen, smart ensuite with double sink, frosted glass panels etc etc.
If you are looking for a room with a bit more space, try the junior suites, they are more spacious, and some of these suites come with skylights.

Hotel Sorolla: Las Fallas
Hotel Sorolla saved my hide during the 2003 Las Fallas celebration. If you are going to Valencia Spain to take part in Las Fallas you are no doubt going to want a hotel in the middle of town. Unfortunately these hotels fill up extremely fast, thus making it extremely difficult to get a room in Old Town Valencia without booking months in advance. During Las Fallas 2003, after an intensive search, I was lucky enough to secure a room at the perfectly located Hotel Sorolla.
I started my search for a hotel room in Valencia by calling every hotel the myriad of travel guide books offered up, but came up empty. There were no rooms to be had, unless you booked outside of Old Town Valencia. Outside Old Town is extremely far from the action and it pushes you into bus or metro territory as far as getting around town goes. With this in mind I kept calling Old Town hotels hoping to catch a break. One of the hotels I called was, Hotel Sorolla, informed me that rooms were available, but unless I reserved the room for seven days the hotel could not accept my reservation. Knowing this information I booked a hotel outside Old Town, and decided I would try Hotel Sorolla again when they lifted the weeklong stay requirement 5 days before Las Fallas began.
