Yesterday we mentioned how when we visited Tarifa, Spain, in preparation for a trip to Tangier Morocco, we stayed at a hostel--certainly not something that made T+L's It List, though it does deserve to be on the list of any budget-minded traveler who appreciates friendly staff, a clean room and a hot shower.

Hostal Alborada offered us a large double room (though with a bit of an anti-view), full bath (all rooms here have full baths), TV and free working WiFi for just $94 per night.

The family-owned operation also houses it's own café, serving up small items like croissants and fresh-squeezed O.J., as well as two clean and sunlight indoor "patio" areas.

Cubicle Dreamin': 100 Percent Fun at the 100 Percent Fun Hotel

Cubicle Dreamin' is a feature in which we ask the hotel mavens to take some time out of their busy work day, surf the Internet, and tell us what hotel they wish they could beam themselves to right that very second--all on the slave driving companies dime, of course. Oh, like these people aren't surfing aimlessly anyway--at least now their purposeless clicking will be cobbled together into useful hotel stories--we hope. Have a destination hotel you are just dying to leave your cube for? Send the story our way.

In this episode, Hotel Maven Amanda K fantasizes about a "fun" getaway. Enjoy.

Right now I'm stuck in the middle of the Australian winter (and hundreds and hundreds of miles from snow, so I can't even go skiing), so when I heard about a hotel in Andalucia, Spain called 100% Fun something clicked straight away. Sure, it's a bit of a gimmicky name, but it actually looks like just where I want to be right now.

It's opposite the beach (a big plus point), there's a good pool, the grounds are all tropical garden-like, what else could I want? Oh yeah, something good to drink--well apparently their pina coladas are good and that would definitely go down well with me.

In fact 100% Fun is done up in a Polynesian style (which does seem a bit odd when a Spanish style would've been great too), and the restaurant seems more focused on Mexican food, although they do make a big deal about their hot chocolate fudge brownies. Prices aren't too bad; in the high season (August) a double room goes for 120 Euros (about $160), and it's quite a lot cheaper outside of peak. And you know? I don't care about the gimmicky name. I think I could make it work for me.
