If you care about golf (and probably even if you don’t), you know that it all began for the sport in Scotland – in St. Andrews, or more specifically, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club founded in 1754.

Naturally this draws a lot of travellers, golf aficionados and otherwise, and British boutique chain Hotel du Vin is getting ready to tee off with a new hotel in the city’s Old Town, opening on April 1.

Kevin Costner is Hotel Happy Ending Bandit

April 25, 2006 at 12:21 PM | by | ()

Kevin Costner's been outed as the pervy Hollywood A-lister who flashed a female masseuse at the Old Course Hotel in Scotland while on his honeymoon/attending a golf tournament in 2004.

The This Isn't Writing blog had exposed Costner first but still it was all speculation and Costner denied that he was involved.

Today, the Daily Mail of the UK reports the female masseuse had settled her lawsuit with the hotel (she claimed she was fired because she reported the incident) and a judge ruled that the actor's identity could be revealed. This doesn't mean that there is 100 percent validity to her claims but we bet that Costner's marriage will be the next celebrity union to go up in flames.

The Hotel Happy Ending Bandit Update

March 21, 2006 at 9:00 AM | by | ()

Yesterday we reported on a mystery A-list celebrity who requested pervy things from his female masseuse at the Old Course Hotel in Scotland during a trip in 2004 with his wife.

We posted a chance for you dear readers to send in your guesses as did Gawker, (via the This Isn't Writing blog) who we will admit trumped our game with the suspicion of Kevin Costner who is friendly with the hotel owner and was a newlywed back in 2004.

But we decided to look into this connection ourselves. We did our research using this handy resource tool called The Web, and we came upon an old In Touch Weekly article on the The Top 10 Celebrity Honeymoon Spots.

Where: Old Course Hotel, St. Andrew's, Scotland

Who: Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner

Romance Rating: "It's a magical place," says Kevin. "When the sun comes out, it's really beautiful." But he insists they didn't spend every waking moment on the green: "Let's just say we didn't play golf all the time!"

Why the Stars Love It: Upon arrival at the hotel, you're given a choice of champagne and smoked salmon or Guinness and oysters. There's also a spa that specializes in relaxing three-hour "rituals."

Oh how these words take on such a new meaning now.

Who is the Hotel Happy Ending Bandit?

March 20, 2006 at 9:32 AM | by | ()

The UK's Mirror reports that a Old Course Hotel employee is claiming she was wrongly fired after she balked at giving a celebrity client a happy ending.

This "A-list Hollywood hero" was visiting the hotel in 2004 with his wife, when he requested some pervy things from his female masseuse.

The masseuse testified to a Dundee tribunal that

The actor grabbed her wrist forcefully, whipped off his towel, exposed himself and performed a sex act.

She told the hotel management, and was soon dismissed.

Unfortunately the actor was not named in the lawsuit. What do we know about him? He is married, or at least he was in 2004, he visited Scotland that same year, and he likes his massages "sweet", yuck. Want to play guess the Hotel Happy Ending Bandit? Send your theories our way.
