Jersey Shore Hotel Not Sure Thing
With the unofficial start of summer just a few weeks away, everyone is getting ready for their big Memorial Day weekend. On the East coast, some people are going to the Hamptons, and some to Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod.
But a good chunk of people in NYC and New Jersey are heading for the Jersey Shore. (Admit it, you go there and you like it.) If you don't have a beach house squared away, be careful where you lodge for the weekend.
The Breakers on the Ocean in Spring Lake is the town's only ocean-front hotel, originally built back in the late 1800s. There are 73 deluxe room and three penthouse suites, but don't let the soothing ocean music on the hotel web site fool you, or the photo gallery for that matter.
Elevator is very old, small and slow. Easier to walk up the stairs. Our "ocean view" suite overlooked the parking lot! Room was very small and cramped. Sheets and towels were filthy....Bathroom door was missing a lock and the lighting was poor. Total turn off. Doors did not lock so anyone can enter your room when you are not there. Room service was TERRIBLE! Food tasted like microwavable crap. The pool had too many ducks in it, so we couldn't use it.
And we thought only Tony Soprano had ducks in his pool. Must be a Jersey thang.
