The Capri Southampton Gives a Little Peep Show of Its Rooms

Finally! The newest hotel in the Hamptons, The Capri Southampton, which opened over Memorial Day Weekend, has posted photos of their guestrooms. For now, you can see a room shot on the hotel's Facebook page but we hear the full gallery will up on the hotel website by tomorrow.

Our first thought on the rooms? It looks like The Hudson goes to the Hamptons with the white furniture and bed and the curtains along the wall (covering the bathroom we presume.) But we're loving the nautical touches such as the lamps that hang from nautical rope as well as the brightly colored accents and artwork like the special design print from Cynthia Rowley Design Studio that hangs above the bed. (Rowley also has a shop inside the hotel.)

The club king room (pictured above) also feature bed linens from Sferra, bath toiletries from Red Flower, iPod docks, free WiFi and complimentary beverages from Panna, Perrier, & San Pellegrino. Because this is the Hamptons and three different kinds of water is to be expected.

Still No Website, But Weekday Specials At the Capri Southampton

Where: 281 County Road 39A [map], Southampton, NY, United States, 11968

Our curiosity was piqued last month about the new Capri Southampton property, whose "bathing club" and Nobu restaurant had us booking tickets on the next Hampton Jitney out of Manhattan! The New York Times also included it in their annual Hamptons preview. As of now, the meager website continues to offer nothing more than a pretty press image (no rooms, no pool, no nothing!), but we spoke to manager James Woods about the hotel's first week of business—for a "slow opening," the picture he painted wasn't that bad at all!

"This was supposed to be a slow weekend, but we ended up doing 485 covers, which is about 250 reservations. We had celebrities coming out, people were really packing in, and we had to call in extra staff to accommodate everyone."

Though weekend rates remain at $495, Woods clued us into a new weekday special of $250 (Sunday through Thursday) which might make your Hamptons poolside getaway dream that much more of a reality. And if lowered room rates weren't enough, how about a Nobu-catered bar menu while you lounge at a Miami-inspired pool area?

This Summer, Head to Capri...in The Hamptons

With Memorial Day just a few weeks away, it's time to start thinking about your Start of Summer vacay plans. And while the Jersey Shore may have stolen the spotlight from the Hamptons as far as interesting characters go, the Hamptons hotel scene still remains hot.

Opening this Memorial Day weekend is Capri Southampton which promises not just hotel rooms (31 in total) but a (OMG) Nobu restaurant, a Cynthia Rowley Shop and its very own Bathing Club aka pool scene.

While the draw of Nobu and Cynthia Rowley are self-explanatory, it's the latter offering that has us most curious about Capri, especially since the beach is not quite close by. The website is not much more than a landing page at this point (no rezzies, no room descriptions, nada) but here is how the PR peeps are describing the BC.

The Fairmont Southampton Offering $149 Rates (But Only For 1 Week)

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 101 South Shore Road , Southampton, Bermuda, SN02
October 7, 2009 at 11:58 AM | by | Comments (0)

If you're missing your Bermuda shorts now that Fall has arrived and want to take them out for a whirl in the real Bermuda, the Fairmont Southampton is offering rates of $149 per night but only for seven days so get booking.

The offer includes a guestroom, complimentary breakfast, unlimited golf for two at the hotel's own golf course, as well as some resort activities over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

The sale begins today at noon (now) and lasts until 11:59pm on October 13. The hotel stay must take place between November 1 and April 16, 2010. The $149 rate does not include taxes, gratuities or resort fees which are a little overboard here.

There's a $10.20 gratuity per person per night and a $9.65 per person resort "levy." Add in taxes and the room is nearly $200 a night. Also that rate is good for a "Moderate Room" category with "no view" as the room description kindly points out. Deluxe Harbour view rooms start at $199 a night.

To book, use the code PTLZ (It's also a Travelzoo special deal.)

Warm Weather Hotels: 'Ultimate' Girls Getaway in Bermuda for Oprah Fans

The Southampton region of Bermuda is renowned for having the best beaches, so that makes it sound like a good place for a winter getaway. The Fairmont Southampton is one of the hotels near the beach, although it's on top of a hill, so there are good views, but a trolley ride down to the actual beach.

This resort promotes itself as having "old world British charm" (but hopefully not the old-fashioned British food). Recent guest reviews of the Fairmont Southampton have been mixed, and the common theme seems to be that if you book a package through a discount site, you won't be treated as well as the regular guests.

The Fairmont runs a heap of package deals ranging from a simple Bed and Breakfast deal or a package including golf games, through to deals that tie in with special Bermuda events like the Breeze Jazz Concert series or the Bermuda Love Festival.

Or if you're looking for an end of winter splurge, you can gather your friends together for the "Ultimate Girls Getaway Package" over the weekend of April 10 to 13, 2008, and you'll be spoiled with a special dinner, some special guests including authors who've appeared on Oprah, a Little Black Dress dinner, a nice afternoon tea and even a PJ party.

Memorial Day Getaway: Hamptons Hotels

May 26, 2006 at 9:15 AM | by | Comments (0)

We know that half of you are probably already out the door, getting started early on your three-day-weekend.

But if you head to the Hamptons and can't stand the 12 other roommates your old friend from college has at his/her "beach house" or your "bed" is located under the Beer Pong table, head for the safety of HRH Resorts.

This Southhampton-based hotel chain offers up decent lodgings with posh names like the Hotel Bentley and the Hotel Capri. At the Bentley there are 39 suites each equipped with Aveda bath products, spring water, Starbucks coffee, mini-bars, CD players, and 2 TV's.

However, this is not a luxury resort on the beach but rather a converted motel on a busy highway five minutes from the village of Southampton.

One thing to note is that check-in is at a sister property, The Atlantic, across Route 39. That's where you need to go to check-in, pick up a beach permit ($250 deposit reqd, good for town beaches--I recommend Flying Point) and beach towels ($35/towel deposit) and anything else you may need that requires face-to-face interaction. The Atlantic is only 2 minutes away, but crossing Route 39 can take 10-15 minutes when traffic is heavy.

Another bad thing is that they don't take reservations online so give them a call  to inquire about availability. But it beats sleeping next to the empty cases of beer.

Also, here are the other suggestions we've had this week for Memorial Day Getaways in case you missed them or were too busy looking at the pictures of Britney near-dropping Tater Tot.
