This past weekend a new wine bar and coffee house opened inside the recently renovated lobby at The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa. Coming on the heels of much anticipation, Bean & Bottle does something you don’t typically see in wine country hotels: multitask with style.
Part wine bar, tasting room, café and deli, it’s also a sweet gathering place where you can cozy up indoors by the stone fireplace, talk wine at the bar with sommeliers (now there's three in all) or head out the glass doors to cocktail by poolside fire pits and cabanas.
But being unusual is nothing new at The Lodge at Sonoma, which feels light years away from your typical wine country stay.
The “Ultimate California Wine Country Getaway” from BeautifulPlaces is the ultimate getaway, because after paying for it, you won’t be able to go on any other trips…ever.
BeautifulPlaces, a luxury travel agency that specializes in villa rentals in Napa and Sonoma, has created the Ultimate Culinary Getaway Package for a “once-in-a-lifetime wine country experience.”
You and up to nine of your nearest and dearest will stay for three days/four nights at Villa Carneros, a five-bedroom Sonoma estate surrounded by vineyards, and just minutes from the town of Sonoma itself. And just in case you were wondering, it is not related to the Carneros Inn.
Ah les printemps in the Northeast. Raw weather, heavy winds, grey skies, and today, even a snow flurry. Is it any wonder we are searching for ways to get the hell out of here?
Springtime in Wine Country is full of blooming flowers, sunny skies, and hot air balloon rides. The Lodge At Sonoma, is offering a $129 package is a 2005 Conde Nast Traveler Gold List winner, and the package comes fully equipped with complimentary passes to wineries, a pic-a-nic-bas-ket, and complimentary day use of the spa on the property.
If you can, get yourself upgraded to one of the cottage rooms--what are we talking about--after taking a second glance out the window and seeing the snow falling harder and faster, we will take any available room, even if it is a broom closet.
Blackout dates: April 2, 7-9, 16, 23, 29-30; May 7. You must book by April 1.
