On the map since 1928, the historical, Sea Island Resorts on Georgia's Sea Island, were voted as one of the "World's Best Resorts" in Travel & Leisure's 2006 poll.

Staying at the Cloister Resort, there's more than just hotel rooms. The resort offers a variety of cottage and condo style floor plans as well, giving its golfing clientele room to stash their clubs.

Aside from the top-notch golf course, the beach, and several deluxe restaurants, Sea Island resorts has other activities to keep you from being bored. There's an equestrian center, arts and crafts classes (hopefully, not involving popsicle sticks) historical island tours, and boating and fishing.

Long ago, the island (also called Jekyll Island) was once a playground for the rich at the turn of the century, a place where John Hancock even vacationed. Today, it's sort of like the Hamptons...with a southern accent.

Travel + Leisure released the results of their "Family 50 survey", a survey that chronicles the best family friendly resorts in North America.  This year's winner?  The Cloister on Sea Island in Georgia.  Tradition, sun, and the ocean, form the triumvirate of relaxation offered at the Cloister. Many families choose the Cloister as their yearly family escape, however, the resort is not just for families.  Honeymooners, seniors, and even G-8 mucky mucks (the G-8 conference was held here) all enjoy the Cloister.  How do all these different groups get along?  Spread `em out.  The Cloister offers ocean front rooms, plus 150 individually owned cottages affiliated with the resort.

"Camp Cloister", a day camp geared towards kids, is a huge part of keeping kids entertained at the resort.  The Camp offers scavenger hunts, fishing expeditions, sailing lessons, and even etiquette lessons.  Ah-ha.  So that is the Cloister's secret to success, give the kids structure.  After last weeks 60 Minutes report, we all know that these crazy echo Boomers (and their parents) need their lives completely scheduled, thus Camp Cloister seems to offer the perfect echo boomer vacation.
