Blige says, we think our life's "just fine") — but if they spun it as a component of a Stress Management Journey, we're pretty sure we'd be a bit more open to the idea. Easy Livin': Cabo Surf Hotel Has a Surf School On Site
Whether you're a Mexico Virgin or not, the Cabo Surf Hotel in San Jose del Cabo sounds kind of awesome. And that's largely due to the Mike Doyle Surf School that's on site.
The school (and hotel) is right on Playa Acapulquito and manned by veteran surfer Mike Doyle. The surf lessons begin at $70 per person for group instruction and range from 1.5 to 2 hours. Private instruction is $95 per person. Those prices include board rentals, beach and water safety instructions, and rashguard use for the lessons.
Students are also asked to arrive 20-minutes early for the lesson to watch a 10-minute instructional video on surfing so you have some idea of what to expect when you hang 10.
Accommodations at the hotel are very chill and laid-back--remember this is a low-key beach hotel, not some five-star resort. Room categories range from a standard ocean room (two double beds) to a junior king villa. The rooms include free WiFi and in some of the larger ones, a kitchenette and jacuzzi. The hotel also has a spa, restaurant and pool on-site. Room rates start at around $265 a night.

Heidi and Spencer Get Married at One & Only Palmilla
Today, Perez broke the news that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag — that's the fameball couple from The Hills best described as the dude-bro with the flesh-colored beard and that girl from that Lauren Conrad doesn't like — have gotten married. Yes, Spencer apparently liked it enough to put a ring on it (and vice versa) and now they are wed.
Originally, the news hit the Internet that the nuptials had "just" gone down and the couple had eloped, but now we're hearing that the couple actually held the ceremony on November 20th and they were able to keep the wedding secret — to sell the magical photos to Us Weekly, it seems.
The couple just happened to be in Mexico at the One & Only Palmilla Resort outside of Cabo San Lucas when they decided, "on a whim," to commit to each other for life. According to Perez:
The ceremony was held on the beach. And, it wasn't planned [...] There were no family members present for the ceremony, which lasted only 15 minutes.
Speidi joins the ranks of several significantly less annoying celeb couples to have their wedding festivities at the One & Only: Eli Manning got hitched here in April and Christina Aguilera chose the resort to host her bachelorette party before she married her hubby.

Today, someone wrote in that the luxe hotels in places like Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and other luxurious destinations are not decreasing their prices. This is true but these types of hotels are starting to put out some offers. Like this Winter Breaks one from the One & Only Palmilla in San Jose del Cabo.

Room rates are going at $650 for an oceanfront room during this period so the deal brings the rate down to $455. Not bad. Of course, it's not great either. We'd like that room rate to come down at least a $100 more, but we'll keep an eye on it.

Room With a Killer View: The New But Already Popular Cabo Azul Resort
We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
This is probably a first for us: a resort that is still under construction is capable of producing a killer view like this one. The Cabo Azul Resort & Spa in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, is not quite finished but you can already stay in rooms that have summer-lovin' views over the palm trees, pool and that very cool gazebo in the middle.
Apparently it's not just us that have decided so fast that the Cabo Azul is worth taking note of. It's getting awards left, right and center: for example, in the Hospitality Design Awards, the resort's Paz Spa was the winner of the most beautiful spa in the world award and Condé Nast Traveler has added Cabo Azul to the 2008 Hot List Hotels.
Despite the whispers that construction is still being finalized, those who've already checked it out say that the construction work is kind of "tucked away" and the resort is already fully functioning. But they still have opening rate specials like a Couples Getaway for $950 for four nights (the fourth night is free). Presumably it pays to ask where the construction's going on though so you can get a room with a view like this but without a sound like a building site.

Eli Manning Gets Hitched at the One & Only Palmilla
Giants quarterback Eli Manning finally got hitched to his longtime girlfriend Abby McGrew over the weekend at the celebrity fave resort, the One & Only Palmilla resort in Mexico. The Daily News reports:
Manning, 27, and McGrew, 24, exchanged vows while standing on a platform in the sand as waves crashed over rocks behind them....
Guests were ferried to the beach in golf carts and were served white wine, Veuve Cliquot champagne and sparkling water by white tuxedoed waiters as they filed into white folding chairs decorated with gold ribbons.
Although it sounds expensive, some guests estimated the whole shebang only cost around $500,000 which is a lot of money in normal-people-land but not for celebs. See? Even celebrities save money in Mexico.
The newlyweds made good use of their stay at the resort aside from getting married there. Eli hit the gym the morning of the wedding and partied in the pool up until two hours before the ceremony. The couple held their rehearsal dinner in the resort's old Spanish Mission Chapel and plan on honeymooning there for the rest of the week.

Summer and Hurricane Season Deals at One & Only Palmilla
[UPDATE: This deal is NOT being offered. We were alerted to this deal via the hotel's email newsletter. However, a sales coordinator for the hotel tell us, "Unfortunately it was a miscommunication at this time. We don't know what offers will be or if/when they will be released at this point." ]
If you're already thinking ahead to a summer vacation but know the budget will be a bit tight, then the One and Only Palmilla has a decent deal for you. And after all, it is the one and only (or at least we can vouch for the fact that it is a nice place to stay, and the celebrities think so too).
There are several package deals on offer over the summer period--when the weather may sometimes be imperfect, although this hotel has been known to comp a few nights if you land there in the middle of a hurricane.
The "Escape to Baja" package being offer at Palmilla is valid between April 6 and October 15, 2008, and means you get seven nights for the price of five. Alternatively you can go for the Summertime Break deal, valid the same period, which gives you 30% off accommodation costs, two rounds of golf and continental breakfasts each day (usually with a three-night minimum stay, and be careful because there are no cancellations allowed).
Once you get to Palmilla, we heartily recommend their impressive infinity pool. That's not it's only good point--it is, after all, the #1 hotel for the San Jose Del Cabo area on TripAdvisor--but you know we just love those pools.

Snapshot :: More Private Infinity Pool Lovin' at Las Ventanas al Paraiso
Hotel Maven Jletter so kindly sent us some snapshots of his recent stay at the Las Ventanas al Paraiso Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico.
These were taken from a One-Bedroom Oceanview Luxury Suite which has a private infinity pool and jacuzzi on the terrace. The suite overall totals 1,600 sq. ft. with a king bed, adobe fireplace and your own telescope for star-gazing. Oh yeah, and a steep price tag of around $2,950.

Las Ventanas Takes Romance Very Seriously
So seriously, in fact, they have hired an official Director of Romance.
That's right. María José García is now the director of romance at Las Ventanas al Paraiso Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The director of romance works very closely with guests, both in advance of arrival and during their stay, to conceive, plan and create a romantic experience that fulfills their desires and fantasies.
"There is an irresistible magic at Las Ventanas, with our intimate ambiance and personalized service, that has made the resort a sensual magnet for lovers," said García. "We create a one-of-a-kind experience for each guest, " she added, "from making unique, personalized arrangements that will set the stage for a marriage proposal to planning an intimate dinner on the sand to re-ignite romance."
Interestingly enough, García was a wedding planner before this new job, and she also spent several years prior to that in the hospitality industry in various positions.
Yet with a director of romance on staff, this hotel better have some seriously romantic tricks up its sleeve. And we're not just talking dinner and a bath.
