"Buy One, Get One Free" offers usually refer to things like magazine subscriptions and ice cream sundaes. In the case of Mexico's Rosewood Mayakobá resort the promotion is a "Buy Two Nights, Get the Third Free" deal at a hotel we once described as "a dash of Venice" with "a bit of Disney's Jungle Cruise, a shot of the Hobbit's Shire, and a touch of Tatooine mixed in for good measure."

Included in the offer, which is valid through December 15th and requires you to stay two-consecutive nights to get that third freebie, is daily breakfast. That early morning "extra" doesn't seem like much of a bonus, though, considering that ye old Continental Breakfast is standard fare at many hotels.

Remember back in 2006 when we found the first "soft rock hotel"? Well last week we visited our first "soft rock resort".

Rosewood Mayakoba is the kind of resort you could stare at all day long. This place is high-end luxury, with a dash of Venice, a bit of Disney's Jungle Cruise, a shot of the Hobbit's Shire, and a touch of Tatooine mixed in for good measure. All on the beach, of course.

We love checking out up and coming hot hotel areas, and Mayakoba, on the Mexican Riviera Maya is one such area. Last week we got a first hand look at a couple newly opened resorts (Rosewood and Mandarin Oriental), a soon to open resort (Banyan Tree), and a resort that looks like it might have some struggles making it to the finish line (Viceroy Mayakoba).

We hunkered down in #505 at the all suite Rosewood Mayakoba and had a good look around the area. Stay tuned this week as we will take you inside the goings on at Mayakoba, but for now, feast your eyes on the above video tour of 505.
