Are you still in the Memorial Day patriotic spirit? Well, get ready for a lotta Americana as the New York Daily News whispers about fashion designer Ralph Lauren possibly buying and revamping the 164-year-old American Hotel in Sag Harbor, Long Island.

This all comes as the owner of The American Hotel, Ted Conklin, marries his high-school sweetheart and beats a path out of Sag Harbor. He has listed his other properties for sale or for rent, and although there aren't any confirmed offers from Lauren, it looks like The American Hotel may be next.

Ok, we might be a little late in the summer for this but W Hotels has a Hampton Hideaway set up this summer in Sag Harbor on Millstone Road.

W Hotels has joined forces with Patrick McMullan and Pink Elephant to dream up a super mod, super flirty, super playful summer "Wuv" shack. Deemed the "W Backyard," W Hotels Worldwide brings you the Hamptons Hideaway, a first-of-its-kind playland for adults.

This exclusive poolside getaway features everything the young at heart could ever need to make the best of W's Summer of Wuv. From poolside cabanas for lounging to a grown up sandbox for sun bathing to the W Suite for those who want to spend the night, the W Backyard combines the sophistication and design of W Hotels with the renowned celebrity night-life events of Pink Elephant.

Also on hand at the hideaway is a fire pit, hammocks, fun treats like S'mores, tons of alcohol, a trampoline, a Slip n' Slide, and a tire swing. Let's just hope they don't let the guests Drink n' Slip n' Slide cause that could get ugly.

The W Backyard (which opened in early June) of will be hosting movie screenings, after-parties and fund raisers through Labor Day. Indeed the place just threw a birthday party for W president, Ross Klein, this past Sunday.

Alas, not anyone can stay here or even stop by. It's strictly invitation only for VIPs. If you are one of the lucky invited guests, you will get a customized VIKey. Yup the W has gone overboard with their cute play-on-words-so that-everything-starts-with-a-"w" branding but the worst is this last line: "Wuvers unite!"
