Runaway Bay Travel Guide

In our Good Rate this week, we pointed out an excellent $99 a person all-inclusive deal at the brand new Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica, in Runaway Bay. How much will you pay if you just book it at Expedia instead? All those sites are the same, right?
Um, no. You'll pay more than double--more proof you always need to shop around.
If you book the same room class and dates at Expedia as you do at BookIt.com, you'll pay $438 a night instead of $198. The three-night total with taxes comes to $1,368.69, compared to less than $600 with BookIt's grand opening deal--including taxes. Not to pick on Expedia though: Travelocity and Orbitz didn't even have the hotel listed yet. It's probably too new and too unproven to show up in all the booking sites yet. Which means we the guests should probably not be paying list price while they work out all the kinks on site and use us as guinea pigs for staff training.
To avoid a Bad Rate, take a bit of time to do your homework. Otherwise it could cost you, to the tune of $700 or more.

A lot of times you have to look beyond the "everything for everybody" booking sites to find a sweet hotel deal and BookIt.com seems to score an unusually high number of bargains for sunny beaches in the Caribbean and Mexico.
Take this grand opening special they are running for the all-inclusive Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica, in Runaway Bay. After the spring break madness is done, you can score a junior suite for yourself and your loved one for only $99 a person. We pulled up the dates of April 12 to 15 for a quick weekend getaway and it was ready to take our credit card and send us off to the palm trees.
This is not the kind of place you go for solitude of course. We're talking 757 rooms, 3 pools, 7 restaurants, 5 bars (including a swim-up bar), a kid's club, and the usual mega-hotel impersonality. But hey, we know a few people who could easily eat and drink the equivalent of $100 a day after sundown alone (not that our bar tab has ever been that high or anything), so this is a score. Bahia Principe is a Spanish hotel company that has this kind of place down to a science, so if you like this kind of set-up, this one will be well-run and spotless.
This deal is for stays from April 9 on and must be booked today or tomorrow.
