Swank Outpatient Care at a Mayo Clinic Hotel

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, has long been known for its top-tier medical services. And as it turns out, there’s a luxury hotel next door with exclusive amenities to match the hospital’s reputation.
The International Hotel prescribes, well, a pillbox full of unexpected amenities for its “highly affluent medical travelers” (aka Mayo outpatients) — including personal escorts to Mayo Clinic appointments and “Ask Mayo” buttons on the room phones that directly connect to Mayo nurses. And here’s something even we’ve never heard of: “purified air pillows.”
The hotel describes its design as “stylish European” with “anything at anytime” service, like pre-arrival phone calls to ensure guest rooms are dialed to the desired temp and stocked with the right foods and drinks. Some 360 global newspapers are available upon request. Room service is top notch, too, able to accommodate any number of dietary restrictions.
If the Minnesota countryside seems like an odd choice for an international hotel, consider that 5,300 international guests travel to Mayo Clinic annually, with 80 percent of outpatients looking for a four- to five-night stay.
Rates start at $450 for an executive room with a king bed.

The White Rapper Hotel Review
Late last night we passed on Letterman and found ourselves aimlessly watching VH1's The White Rapper Show.
Listen, it was late and vapid television soothes the soul. In any event, the show, which is apparently some sort of series long contest, and in the end MC Search will determine who the greatest white rapper is, or some such thing.
Point is, last night the hip hoppers went to the D where they were set to do battle 8 Mile style in the basement of St. Andrew's.
VH1 even rented the guys a lived in trailer, to set the mood. However, about half way through the show two of the rappers won a night at the Royal Park Hotel--room 421, the Royal Grand suite to be exact.
Never mind that the Royal Park Hotel, which MC Search describes as the nicest hotel in the D, is in the R, Rochester, which is thirty miles north of the D, we get a rare hotel review from white rapper wannabes Shamrock and John Brown:
Marble floors...everywhere. Stunning chandeliers, gold elevators, and the maître d' waitin' fo us with champagne.
The words are strong, but the flow is missin'. These guys gotta work on a delivery with more enthusiasm. Funny thing is, it sounds like their hotel review is fairly on the money.

Royal Park Hotel: English Manor On Detroit Outskirts

Luxist leads us to the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan. Sound like a remote location for and English tudor style boutique hotel? We thought so as well, until we found out that Volkswagen/Audi and The Palace at Auburn Hills are both just five miles away. We are guessing Audi's ad agency is extremely psyched about this new addition to the greater Detroit area. Now media planners and creative types can take advantage of the 15 suites with plasma TVs, soaking tubs, and balcony views. Furthermore, for meetings you can get a 60" plasma screen, wireless keyboard, wireless microphones, and a glass conservatory for events and receptions.
Oh, and the Pistons opponents should feel right at home staying here. Shaq-sized beds (7-foot kings), oversized bath towels, and a cigar-friendly lounge to celebrate a victory, all should help attract the NBA teams that come through town.
English luxury just outside Detroit, who would have thunk it.
