Old School Veuve Clicquot Estate Sheds WWI Damage for New School Makeover

Is that neon-lighting we see in the background?
Long operating hotels are working double time to keep up with their slick newer counterparts, undergoing minor facelifts or totally gutting their interiors to compete with fresh faced, showy young'uns. Truth be told, we often enjoy staying at places with a bit of time-worn character, but when a building's facade bears damage from World War I, even us history buffs think it's time for an extreme makeover.

Champagne Wishes
North Americans tend to think Champagne is purely posh, celebratory, and extravagant. There's a stigma that the golden bubbly elixir is for the elite and those who really need a reason for festivity. But apparently none of this is true...as long as you're in Champagne, France. Everyday is a Champagne day in Reims, the major city of this department. A two hour jaunt from Paris can bring you your real Champagne wishes but, we're not sure about the caviar.
If you really want to go all the way, looks like you should stay at Les Crayeres Hotel. Your entire stay at this hotel can revolve around Champagne all the while being in Champagne. It doesn't get anymore Champagn-ey than this. The hotel is in an old castle and has a total of 19 rooms. You'll feel like Marie-Antoinette in this place with marble floors, ancient art, antique French furniture, all situated on marvelously kept park.
They offer a Champagne package for the whopping price of 1930 euros for two days. Okay so we take that back about needing to celebrate with Champagne, this trip better be celebrating something. The hotel and package claims they are:
A unique place, paired with the most prestigious champagne wine. The unexpected becomes possible for two days marrying "Les Crayeres" fine cuisine and Dom Perignon Champagne.
From the moment they pick you up to the moment you leave, and during your tour of Dom Perignon, they are shoving Champagne down your throat.
Truth be told, you may as well stay at the Holiday Inn Reims though, that way you can afford to bring a lot of Don P back home.

Champagne Hangovers Are Classy

You know what they say about a champagne hangover, it is no different from a regular hangover, except you feel a lot classier.
We can't decide what is best about Le Clos St. Martin, the fact that you are surrounded by parkland, so the chances of a drunken arrest are slim, or the fact that you are smack dab in the middle of champagne country, so you have a never ending supply of the worlds best bubbly.
Either way Le Clos St. Martin is a four bedroom detached cottage in the heart of the Reims Mountain Nature Park and the champagne producing vineyards just 12km south of Reims that claims to sleep up to nine. This place also sports a sun terrace and a BBQ.
The cottage will run you about £320.00 a week and you can pay using pay pal.
Remember, the French want you to clean up after yourselves:
PLEASE REMEMBER that in France end of stay cleaning is considered to be the responsibility of the holidaymaker so please ensure that you leave the property clean and tidy at the end of your stay or a charge for cleaning will be deducted from your security deposit.
