Punta Pacifica Travel Guide
Because the Trump Ocean Club in Panama is built onto a coastal (and relatively affluent) strip of the city known as Punta Pacifica, there is a strange feeling here that you're surrounded by nothing except water—almost like you're staying at a resort.
And that's exactly the impression you're supposed to have. The building's butterfly design (which can also look like a "sail fully deployed in the wind," depending on where you're standing) allows for all of the rooms to at least partially face the ocean. Of course, certain views are more head-on than others.
Last week, we showed you a little design quirk hidden inside the mens bathrooms. Now, for a look at the actual rooms. Similar to the lobby, which actually spans from the thirteenth to the fifteenth floor, there remains that characteristically Trump contrast of a huge and imposing exterior comprised of many well-crafted intimate spaces.

Now that MemDayWknd is done, we can't blame you for already thinking of where else to go this summer. So here's a fun suggestion to add to your shortlist--Trump Ocean Club International Hotel and Tower in Panama.
We last heard the hotel would be opening sometime in June but the new date is now July 6. Deluxe guest rooms, which start on the 16th floor, are going that night for a special 20 percent off rate of $255 a night with complimentary breakfast and unlimited WiFi.
Those rooms also have an average 554-sq.ft. to lounge in, floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the ocean, private balconies, 42-inch LCD flat-screens, oversized bathrooms, a deep-soaking tub and a Nespresso machine. (Read more about the dual-use room design here.)
Trump has been on a roll with hotel openings lately, and the months ahead are no exception. The Trump Hotel Collection has just announced that Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower Panama will open in Spring 2011.
The opening is Trump's first foray into Latin America--quite the milestone--but with a location near Punta Pacifica's International Banking Center, the brand hopes to find no shortage of wealthy guests to pamper.
The part of our brains reserved for processing Trump Hotels has been busy with all the US-based properties lately: from Soho to Chicago and on to Waikiki. But there's another new Trump Hotel on the way (of course), this time in Panama. But when is Trump Ocean Club opening?
The official word is early 2011. Beyond that, the hotel is not announcing a specific date. But we can check out the webcams on the building's main website... and, well, it does look like there's a ways to go yet.
