Room With a Killer View: No Leaning Tower View But Still Gorgeous at Pisa
We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.

When a place is named the Royal Victoria Hotel you wouldn't immediately place it in Pisa, Italy, but that's exactly where you'll find the hotel that produced this killer view from its balcony.
Not only is the view great but the hotel is quite special--parts of the building date back to the tenth century and over the years it's entertained all kinds of aristocrats, scientists and other historical figures.
These days the Royal Victoria Hotel in Pisa is a simple three-star place with reasonable rates: 100 (US$140) for a standard room with private bathroom (there are cheaper ones if you'll share your bathroom) or double that for a family room. And it's only a 15-minute walk to that famous leaning tower.

Room with an Anti-View: No Tower View From Pisa Hotel
You know the scene. You open the door to your brand new hotel room, run over to the window, open the blinds and bam, you are hit with the anti-view. Maybe you are looking down a dirty alley, witnessing a drug deal, staring at an air shaft in the face, or seeing a brick wall. Whatever you are viewing it is not extremely pleasurable. Help out your fellow hotel mavens by uploading your anti-views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number with the not-so-easy-on-the-eyes view.

In a similar way to today's killer view, we're not sure if this is truly an anti-view or just a pretty-colored wall that makes you reminisce about the colors and flavors of Tuscany. But if you're staying in the pretty town of Pisa (worth visiting for more than just its leaning tower), you'd probably be expecting more.
This is the view from a long, narrow room in the Hotel Bologna in the heart of Pisa and close to the river. Traveler Ultrastar175g actually returned to the Hotel Bologna for a second time after enjoying the first stay so much--when their room was up in a turret of the tower-like building. Second time around wasn't such a success, with this wall-to-wall-and-antenna view, made just slightly better with the Tuscan yellow hue.
The other problem was the lack of double rooms: couples end up sleeping toe to toe in single beds along one wall of a narrow room. Still more comfortable than sleeping in the leaning tower, though.
