Papagayo Travel Guide
Here are a few renderings of the property which sits on the Papagayo Gulf, along the Bay of Culebra. The Andaz will be a part of a 2,223-acre master planned development and will have 153 guest rooms (21 of these will be suites), three themed restaurants, a marina bar (which overlooks the 180-slip Marina Papagayo), ocean activities, two pools, a private beach and a spa and fitness center. Guests will also have access to the resort activities of Peninsula Papagayo, which includes an 18-hole Arnold Palmer golf course and sport fishing.
The other week, we dropped in some killer views from Las Vegas. This week, our own Eloise, Josh Flagg drops in one of his favorite killer views from, where else?, a Four Seasons hotel. This time he left the wilds of Beverly Hills and roughed it in Costa Rica. But you know, not too rough.
Now maybe I am overly fascinated by this, but at my recent stay in the Four Seasons Costa Rica, two things caught my attention. The first was that every floor had a washing and drying machine for hotel guests. Instead of waiting all day to have the hotel do your laundry for you (at $80 for a pair of underwear, mind you), you can walk to steps down the hall and just throw your things in the washing machine.
I have never seen this before in a luxury hotel and I must say, I loved being able to throw my socks and underwear in and have them clean before dinner.
The second thing I loved about this Four Seasons was that I could sleep on my terrace or shall I say, my outdoor room.
We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
By crazy coincidence we just picked out this week's killer view of the Four Seasons Costa Rica and only then realised that this beautiful picture's from the same HotelChatter tipster who supplied last week's great New Zealand killer view. And we're jealous.
This view from a room we really, really want to stay in starts with the suite's own infinity plunge pool then extends out across the sea, and it's all just perfect. If you book this view between now and December you can grab their Stay Longer package--every fifth night free--something we're pretty keen on.
Except that the plunge pool suites start from $1,625 per night, which is still a lotta dollars even when you get five for four.
