Brit Hotels Have Trouble With Breakfast Too

The 2006 edition of Good Hotel Guide of Great Britain and Ireland, chews out Britain's hotel breakfasts for leaving a bad taste in one's mouth.

Looks like the UK's notoriously bad food is now tainting their quickly becoming notoriously bad hotels (or so the Hotel Mavens tell us).

It's often the last meal guests have in the hotel and it is the last thing they remember."

Co-editor Adam Raphael told CNN

Raphael noted that while the dinners might be "superb" the breakfasts left much to be desired. Yet, not all of the hotels on the island were serving cold eggs and cardboard-like toast. Better breakfasts were often found in independent and small inns and B&B's.

There is at least one hotel praised for serving a breakfast of champions. The Bark House Hotel in Bampton, southwest England, which was rated AA's "Best Breakfast of the Year Award." And it was rated "Southwest B&B of the Year" by Taste of the West Food & Drink Awards 2005. Good Hotel Guide seemed to rave about the menu: "moist muesli, exceptional porridge with honey and brown sugar, meaty Bampton bangers, tasty mushrooms, dry-cured bacon, free-range eggs, crisp fried bread."

Mmm. Fried Bread.
